CACTUS is seeking an Editor to leverage subject-matter expertise to evaluate and refine biomedical manuscripts, ensuring scientific accuracy while enhancing language quality. The role focuses on improving clarity, coherence, and publication readiness for researchers worldwide.

You will review and edit manuscripts to preserve authors' meaning, ensure discipline-specific accuracy, and adhere to target journal guidelines.

Qualifications

• PhD degree in Biomedical Informatics or Health Informatics or Bioinformatics (mandatory).
• 5–10+ first-author publications (mandatory).
• Ability to assess study design, statistics and interpretation.
• Excellent written English and attention to detail.
• Experience in scientific editing or academic publishing preferred.

Job Responsibilities

• Review and edit manuscripts to improve the clarity, coherence, and readability of scientific content while preserving the authors’ intended meaning.
• Ensure that subject-specific terminology, conventions, and scientific arguments are accurate, consistent, and appropriate for the target audience.
• Improve the presentation of complex research findings to enhance their communication and publication readiness.
• Edit manuscripts such that the final text meets the highest standards of academic writing, is free of unclear, illogical, or unidiomatic sentences. Adhere to job-specific guidelines and format manuscripts according to the target journal when required.

Qualifications and Prerequisites

• A PhD degree in Biomedical Informatics or Health Informatics or Bioinformatics (mandatory)
• Strong publication record, with 5–10 or more first-author publications (mandatory)
• Ability to critically assess study design, methodology, statistics, and interpretation
• Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate scientific content and ensure discipline-specific accuracy.
• Excellent written English and attention to detail.
• Prior experience in scientific editing or academic publishing is preferred.
