Job summary

Speed Global in Pune, Maharashtra is seeking a hands-on hardware design engineer to lead and participate in the full lifecycle of new product development for industrial and consumer electronics. Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in full lifecycle of NPD for electronic devices.
• Design, simulate, build, and evaluate prototypes for feasibility and performance.
• Conduct RCA and troubleshooting during hardware debugging and validation.
• Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and product teams.
• Design robust power supplies (AC-DC, DC-DC, motor drives, BMS).
• Perform component selection, thermal calculations, and worst-case analysis.
• Design analog/digital circuits and interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS-485).
• Create schematics and multi-layer PCB layouts in industry tools.
• Ensure high-speed design, SI, PI, EMI/EMC, and DFM/ DFA considerations.
• Prepare manufacturing outputs (Gerbers, BOMs, drawings).
• Prepare regulatory test readiness (CE, FCC, UL, RoHS, REACH).

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and participate in the full lifecycle of New Product Development (NPD) for industrial/consumer electronic devices.
• Design, simulate, build, and evaluate prototypes to validate technical feasibility and performance requirements.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and troubleshooting during hardware debugging and validation phases.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware engineers, mechanical designers, and product management team
• Design robust power supplies, including AC-DC, DC-DC converters, motor drives, gate drivers, and battery management systems (BMS).
• Perform component selection, power budgeting, thermal calculations, and worst-case circuit analysis.
• Design analog and digital circuits, microcontroller/DSP interfaces, sensor integration, and communication peripherals (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS-485).
• Create schematic captures and multi-layer PCB layouts using industry-standard EDA tools (Altium Designer, KiCAD, or OrCAD).
• Implement best practices for High-Speed design, Signal Integrity (SI), Power Integrity (PI), thermal management, and EMI/EMC mitigation.
• Generate complete manufacturing outputs, including Gerber files, Bill of Materials (BOM), fabrication drawings, and assembly outputs.
• Partner with PCB fabricators and assembly houses (EMS) to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
• Prepare products for regulatory compliance testing (CE, FCC, UL, RoHS, REACH, etc.) and participate in pre-compliance testing.
• Create technical documentation, including hardware specifications, test plans, design verification reports (DVR), and BOMs.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Experience Range: 3-5 Years
• Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Telecommunication, or a related technical discipline.
• Proven hands-on experience in electronic hardware design within an R&D or NPD setup.
• PCB CAD Tools: Experience with Altium Designer, KiCAD, Cadence Allegro, or similar ECAD platforms for multi-layer board design. (Any one is sufficient)
• Power Electronics: Strong understanding of SMPS topologies (Flyback, Buck, Boost, LLC), power MOSFETs/IGBTs, gate drivers, and magnetic component design.
• Lab Equipment: Hands‑on expertise using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and soldering tools.
• Circuit Simulation: Experience with simulation tools such as SPICE, LTspice, or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Prior experience taking at least 1–2 hardware products from concept to mass production. (Recommended)
• Familiarity with microcontroller architectures (ARM Cortex-M, STM32, ESP32, TI C2000).
• Understanding of thermal simulation, heat sink design and enclosure integration.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• High attention to detail with a commitment to design quality and safety standards.
