Job summary

Edubull Com is seeking a seasoned Book Designer to create engaging interiors and covers for academic textbooks and workbooks. You will structure content, format complex tables and equations, and ensure consistent typography and layouts across modules.

Collaboration with writers, editors, and illustrators is essential for high-quality publication. The role requires strong mastery of InDesign and related tools, plus experience with NCERT/CBSE/ICSE style guides.

Qualifications

• 28 years of solid experience in publication design or desktop publishing (DTP), school book publishing preferred.
• Strong familiarity with NCERT, CBSE, and ICSE textbook guidelines and aesthetics.
• Mandatory toolkit includes Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and CorelDRAW; familiarity with AI design tools is a bonus.

• End-to-End Layouts: Design visually engaging book interiors, covers, and multi-page pages for academic textbooks and workbooks.
• Content Structuring: Format chapters, tables, equations, exercises, and activities.
• Design System Mastery: Create and maintain master pages, styles, and templates for font, color, and margin consistency.
• Asset Integration: Place images, illustrations, icons, maps, and infographics to enhance readability.
• Print Production & Prepress Quality Control: Prepare print-ready files, coordinate with printers, and ensure quality from proofs to final print.

Responsibilities

Book Design, Layout & Formatting

• End-to-End Layouts: Design visually engaging book interiors, covers, and multi-page page layouts for academic textbooks and workbooks.
• Content Structuring: Seamlessly format chapters, complex tables, mathematical equations, exercises, and activities.
• Design System Mastery: Create and maintain master pages, paragraph/character styles, and templates to ensure absolute consistency in fonts, colors, and margins.
• Asset Integration: Strategically place images, illustrations, icons, maps, and infographics to complement text and improve readability.

Print Production & Prepress Quality Control

• Print-Ready Files: Prepare flawless, print-ready PDF files adhering strictly to CMYK color profiles, high DPI, precise bleed, and margin specifications.
• Technical Auditing: Check files thoroughly for prepress alignment, image resolution issues, and printing errors before final production. Vendor Coordination: Coordinate directly with external printers and internal production teams to ensure final print quality matches digital proofs.

Team Collaboration & Project Management

• Cross-Functional Synergy: Work closely with content writers, subject matter experts (SMEs), editors, and illustrators to translate raw manuscripts into polished books.
• Deadline Management: Handle multiple book projects concurrently while maintaining strict adherence to publication timelines.

Requirements

• Experience: 28 years of solid experience in publication design or desktop publishing (DTP). Prior experience in school book publishing (K-12) is highly preferred.
• Curriculum Familiarity: A strong understanding of the design aesthetics, structures, and guidelines typical of NCERT, CBSE, and ICSE textbooks.
• Technical Toolkit (Mandatory):
• Adobe InDesign (Expert level for long-form formatting)
• Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator (For vector artwork, cover designs, and
• photo editing)
• CorelDRAW (Strong working knowledge)
• Bonus: Familiarity with generative AI design tools for quick asset creation.
• Core Skills: Mastery over typography, optical spacing, grid systems, page pagination, and visual hierarchy.

Education: Graduate in any discipline (A degree/diploma in Graphic Design, Multimedia, or Mass Communication is a plus).
