Qualifications

• Master's degree in environmental science, management, climate science, ecology or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate change, environmental management, biodiversity conservation, wetland management, youth development citizen science, or community-based natural resource management.
• Experience in donor-funded projects, particularly involving wetlands, biodiversity conservation, or climate resilience, will be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate Youth Citizen Science initiatives across the project landscape.
• Design and implement youth leadership programmes on climate action, biodiversity conservation and environmental stewardship.
• Build partnerships with schools, colleges, universities, youth organisations and community institutions.
• Organise environmental education programmes, awareness campaigns, exposure visits and leadership workshops.
• Promote youth participation in wetland conservation, biodiversity monitoring and climate resilience initiatives.

• Document and showcase youth-led conservation initiatives and success stories.
• Develop and implement community-based climate adaptation and resilience strategies.

• Support policy advocacy related to climate change and environmental governance.
• Conduct climate vulnerability assessments and develop adaptation plans.

• Promote community ownership of conservation initiatives.
• Prepare annual work plans and implementation schedules.
• Coordinate field implementation with multidisciplinary teams. Monitor project progress and ensure timely delivery of outputs.
• Support proposal development and donor reporting.
• Organise workshops, consultations, seminars and stakeholder meetings.
• Prepare technical reports, progress reports, case studies and policy briefs.
• Develop communication materials for publications, newsletters, websites and social media.
• Document lessons learned and best practices.

Job Summary

Nature Environment Wildlife Society (NEWS) invites applications from dynamic, self-motivated and committed professionals to join the IKI Living Lakes Biodiversity Conservation Programme as Manager Climate, Environment Youth Citizenship.

The manager will provide technical leadership in climate change adaptation, wetland and biodiversity conservation, environmental governance, community engagement, youth citizen science, stakeholder coordination, research, documentation, and project implementation, while supporting long‑term conservation and sustainable development of the Deepor Beel landscape.

A major responsibility of this position will be to design, coordinate and strengthen Youth Citizen science initiatives, promoting environmental leadership among young people and enhancing community participation in conservation.

IKI Living Lakes Biodiversity Conservation Programme (IKI-LLBCP)

A flagship Indo‑German initiative for biodiversity conservation and climate resilience, implemented in collaboration with national and international partners for the conservation and sustainable management of Deepor Beel Ramsar Site, Assam. The position builds upon the existing Environment Climate Change role while strengthening youth engagement and environmental leadership.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Masters Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Climate Science, Ecology, Biodiversity Conservation, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Sustainable Development, Rural Development, Social Work, or any related discipline.

Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in one or more of the following: Climate Change, Environmental Management, Biodiversity Conservation, Wetland Management, Youth Development Citizen Science, Community‑based Natural Resource Management, Programme Management.

Experience in donor‑funded projects, particularly involving wetlands, biodiversity conservation, or climate resilience, will be preferred.
