The/Nudge Institute is seeking a field-oriented Program Manager to help scale graduation and economic inclusion initiatives in rural India. The role involves district-level implementation, stakeholder engagement, and capacity-building with SRLMs and NGOs to reach marginalized communities.

Based in Amlarem, West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya, the candidate will lead program activities, coordinate with local partners, and ensure quality execution of the graduation approach at scale.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be graduate; post-graduate preferred in relevant streams like rural development, rural management, agriculture, forestry, social work, anthropology, etc.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in development sector/rural development projects/poverty eradication projects/livelihood promotion projects/tribal development projects.
  • Experience in National Rural Livelihood Mission/State Rural Livelihood Missions in institution building, capacity building, social inclusion, social development, and livelihood promotion preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and practice the Spirits of The/Nudge Institute and SRLMs.
  • Ensure all project activities are implemented on time with high quality per PIP/SoP/PoP/COM in districts.
  • Coordinate with DMMU/BMMU for smooth implementation of the project.
  • Organize capacity building training for project team and community.
  • Coordinate field visits and events at regional/district levels.
  • Ensure timely planning, implementation, and documentation of project activities.

The/Nudge is an action institute building resilient livelihoods to alleviate poverty. We work with women, farmers, tribals and youth on rural development, agriculture, skilling and economic inclusion, along with 15+ central and state government partners.

We are solving for households in poverty who are also financially and socially vulnerable through a targeted, multi-faceted, and sequenced model called the graduation approach, which has demonstrated that we can durably pull households out of poverty.

At The/Nudge Institute, we are in the process of catalyzing the propagation of the same. Our purpose is to contribute to making the most excluded individuals a contributing member to the economy:

Enable govt to adopt by providing research, design, and implementation support

Continue to implement on its own to iterate the design for impact at scale

Enable more NGOs to adopt technical and capacity-building support

Continue to generate data on poverty and evidence on graduation approach to nudge governments to adopt at-scale

Build technology solutions for NGOs and governments to adopt and implement at scale & with quality.

What will you do?

The/Nudge is working with various state SRLMs to help increase adoption of the graduation approach/ economic inclusion program by targeting vulnerable rural women through community institutions.

  • To understand and practice the Spirits of The/Nudge Institute and the respective SRLMs
  • Ensure all project activities are implemented on time with utmost quality as per approved Project Implementation Plan (PIP)/ Standard Operating Procedure (SoP)/ Package of Practice (PoP)/ Community Operational Manual (COM) in the respective districts.
  • Support the district in projects under PVTG Domain.
  • Coordinate with DMMU and BMMU to ensure smooth implementation of the project .
  • Coordinate and facilitate in organizing capacity building training of project team and community.
  • Coordinate and lead in organizing any project related event at regional and district.
  • Coordinate and support in any field visits of dignitaries and officials.
  • Ensure timely planning and implementation of project activities.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting related to the project to respective offices.
  • Facilitate the timely collection/ entry, processing and reporting of data.
  • Support and practice monitoring & evaluation of projects.
  • Good stakeholder management at the grassroots level.
Who are we looking for in this role?
  • Candidate must be graduate; post-graduate will be preferred, in relevant streams like rural development, rural management, agriculture, forestry, social work, anthropology etc.
  • Candidate must have 4-6 years of relevant experience in the development sector/ rural development projects/ poverty eradication projects/ livelihood promotion projects/ tribal development projects.
  • Candidate with work experience working in district-level positions in National Rural Livelihood Mission/ State Rural Livelihood Missions in Institution Building, Capacity Building, Social Inclusion, Social Development, and Livelihood promotion will be preferred.
  • The candidate must have her/his own two-wheeler with a valid driving license as it is a field job.
