Position Overview

Boeing India - Engineering, Test & Technology (ET&T) is looking for Director, Boeing India ET&T – SAMPI (Safety, Air worthiness, Mechanical, Propulsion & Interiors) and Quality. This position is based out of the Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC), Bangalore.

Position Responsibilities

Executive leader for Structures and Mechanical systems, responsible for all aspects of execution and people management for that organization.

Chief engineer for the Structures and Mechanical systems across all of Boeing India. Decisions impact includes creating thriving and successful enterprise-wide capability centers within these functions and making execution decisions that impact critical program milestones for all three Business units and verticals.

Oversee a team of 400 employees in addition to Capex and Opex budgets.

Relationships: Internal main point of contact for the relevant FCEs and execution VPs/EDs and interfaces with in-country high-level customer representatives as well as the technical executives for a number of our suppliers and partners. Boeing Engineering ambassador for all of the Boeing Engineering team in India, bringing forward product and process knowledge as well as Boeing Engineering culture.

This cross-functional role partners with and supports all Business Units to align strategies, drive initiatives, and ensure consistent execution across the organization.

Proven leadership experience leading teams, initiatives, or cross‑functional projects to meet business objectives, influence change, and translate vision and strategy into measurable outcomes.

The primary role of this job is to grow & mature Structures and Mechanical systems Engineering at India in line with Boeing enterprise’s functional engineering strategy. As the local execution leader at India, this leader will be accountable to BCA, BDS and BGS programs for projects / Statement of Works (SoW) being executed at India and also to enterprise functional leaders for functional talent, knowledge curation, integration and continuous improvement.

Mature design practices, engineering capabilities and digital expertise to support the enterprise. Ensuring completion of design practices being worked by India in Structures and Mechanical systems Engineering complete on‑time meeting enterprise requirements.

Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Build both technical & leadership capabilities at India aligned to current and future statement of work.

Develop integrated strategy, products & services roadmap, goals & objectives to be consistent with ET&T India and enterprise engineering.

Responsible for execution of over 40+ projects related to SAMPI, design, development, sustainment and support services apart from process & tools for commercial, defense and space products for US stakeholders and India customers.

Translate Strategy to Action: Functional leadership as well as BIETC strategies to action. By executing strategy, build capabilities, secure & execute SoW, manage cost, quality and schedule, attract/develop & retain talent, manage stakeholders across businesses.

Provide in-country liaison engineering support for effective execution of work statements by suppliers. Develop and execute integrated organizational plans, policies and procedures and guide the development of business and technical strategies, goals and objectives.

Enable local campaigns and support “India from India”: Provide engineering support to RFPs from Indian Govt.

As Functional/Skill Leader for Structures and Mechanical systems Engineering across India, continue culture of nurturing ideas; Deliver innovation; contribute to the future of aerospace. Foster the innovation culture, Funding for new ideas. Serve as the ET&T Management representative for Quality Audit activities, leading audit planning and execution, driving corrective actions, and ensuring compliance to minimize or eliminate nonconformities.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams
  • A significant leadership background is required with demonstrated experience both leading and developing teams, delivering results in a complex matrix environment in support of business and mission critical requirements – leading with courage and passion!
  • Experience working across multiple functions and regions within a Global company
  • Demonstrable experience working with engineering business leaders to develop strategies and help deploy capabilities to support business performance
  • The ability to develop multi-year business capability roadmaps with enterprise architecture.
  • Experience assessing markets, customer needs, characterizing competitive advantages and gaps.
  • Knowledge of the airline / aerospace industry
  • Ability to rapidly build consensus in large organizations and lead by influence across functions/ business.
  • Ability to coach & mentor budding leaders
  • Ethical Mindset- Sustain and strengthen the excellent reputation of Boeing in India
  • The ability to think pro-actively and work collaboratively. Results-driven but also a strong bottom-line orientation. Comfortable leading organizational complexity and a very strong team player
Typical Education & Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education i.e. bachelor’s degree in engineering with more than 15 years’ experience or higher related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
