Job summary

Purpose

In close collaboration with Worley Digital and other business functions, the Lead Architect - Intelligent Digital Services & Applications will lead the secure design and delivery of global digital services and applications. This role is highly technical and central to shaping Worley's digital future by establishing a secure, scalable, and AI-enabled application architecture that supports business growth, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation.

The Lead Architect will drive the development of a forward-looking digital services blueprint, integrating modern application architecture principles, cloud-native platforms, and secure-by-design methodologies. A key focus will be embedding AI and machine learning capabilities into digital services to enhance automation, decision-making, and user experience across Worley's global operations.

The Role

As a Director, Strategy and Architecture with Worley, you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc.

• Digital Services & AI Architecture Leadership
  • Define and evolve Worley's global digital services and application architecture strategy with embedded AI capabilities.
  • Lead the design of secure, scalable, and intelligent application ecosystems across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments.
  • Champion secure-by-design, zero trust, and responsible AI principles across all digital services.
• AI-Driven Application Modernization
  • Drive modernization of legacy applications through cloud-native, microservices, and API-first approaches, with AI augmentation where applicable.
  • Identify and implement AI/ML use cases (e.g., predictive analytics, intelligent automation, digital twins) to enhance digital service delivery and operational efficiency.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Alignment
  • Build strong relationships across Worley Digital, business units, and global delivery teams.
  • Facilitate alignment between digital architecture, AI strategy, and business objectives, ensuring technology investments deliver measurable outcomes.
• Architecture Governance & Enablement
  • Establish architecture standards, AI model governance, and reusable components to accelerate secure and intelligent application development.
  • Guide enterprise-wide adoption of agile architecture practices, DevSecOps, and MLOps principles.
• Team Leadership & Capability Building
  • Build and lead a high-performing global architecture team focused on digital services, AI integration, and application delivery.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

About You

To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:

• Education & Background
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, including enterprise and application architecture.
  • Experience in EPCM or consulting environments (highly desirable).
• Technical Expertise
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering secure, AI-enabled digital services and applications at scale.
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS models.
  • Expertise in application architecture, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, and data integration.
  • Strong cybersecurity acumen, including secure SDLC, identity and access management, and zero trust frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML platforms, data pipelines, model lifecycle management, and responsible AI practices.
  • Familiarity with agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and MLOps practices.
  • Knowledge of architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Open Group, SABSA).
