Job summary

RSM in Hyderabad is seeking an experienced property accounting professional to own end-to-end real estate accounting for our fund clients. You will manage monthly, quarterly and annual workpapers, ensuring GAAP compliance and robust internal controls.

The role involves complex accounting tasks across leases, assets and fees, with collaboration across global teams, auditors and clients. Growth opportunities exist within a leading fund services platform offering deep technical exposure.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in property accounting with fund managers or fund administrators or public accounting firms.
• CPA and/or CA preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of Property accounting platforms (Yardi and MRI).

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end real estate property accounting responsibilities.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual workpapers and variance analyses.
• Ensure GAAP-compliant recording and internal controls.
• Handle bookkeeping including cash booking, accruals, depreciation, leases, asset management fees, and related items.
• Support client queries and collaborate with property/fund accounting teams, regulatory authorities and external auditors.
• Assist onboarding of new clients and build customized reports per client requirements.
• Create SOPs and checklists for processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Collaborate with global team members to manage day-to-day operations and month-end close.
• Mentor and guide junior team members.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Assume ownership of the real estate property accounting, encompassing complete end-to-end responsibilities for property accounting.
• Prepare/review monthly/quarterly/annual workpapers and financial statements variance analysis.
• Ensure that proper accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls are maintained and that all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP requirements.
• Handle bookkeeping for entity’s operations which includes cash booking, expense accruals, assets and depreciation accounting, leases, asset management fees, loan draw packages, CAM, commercial billing, AR aging, actual vs budget, acquisitions, dispositions, Lender compliance etc.
• Support with queries from client, property/fund accounting team, regulatory authorities and external auditors.
• Assist with onboarding new clients, setting up the entities, assets and build customized reports in line with client’s reporting requirements.
• Create SOPs and checklists for various processes to ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness.
• Work collaboratively with global team members to manage day-to-day operations, implemented month-end close processes and provide client servicing.
• Offer mentorship and guidance to new or junior team members.

Qualifications:

• 12+ years of experience in property accounting domain with fund managers or fund administrators or public accounting firms
• Ability to interpret/applying the financial and operational terms of Property related agreements and Structures for RE entities.
• CPA and/or CA preferred
• Proficient knowledge of Property accounting platforms (Yardi and MRI knowledge is a large PLUS!)
• Strong analytical skills, detail oriented and highly organized
• Demonstrates a strong work ethic, team player, upholds personal and professional integrity, and maintains a positive attitude.
• Possesses effective oral and written communication skills, as well as influencing skills and leadership capabilities.
