Job Title : Director of ITKM (Information Technology and Knowledge Management)

The Director of Information Technology & Knowledge Management (ITKM) at SRM AP University provides visionary leadership and strategic direction for the University’s digital infrastructure, technology-enabled academic ecosystem, and university knowledge systems. This senior-level role is responsible for aligning IT and KM strategies with the University’s mission of academic excellence, research innovation, and administrative efficiency.
As the chief architect of SRM AP’s digital transformation, the Director leads the planning, implementation, and oversight of robust IT systems, digital learning platforms, knowledge repositories, and emerging technologies to support the University’s growth and global aspirations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Develop and execute a comprehensive IT and Knowledge Management (KM) vision and strategy aligned with university goals.
- Advise senior leadership (Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Deans) on technology-driven innovation, digital transformation, and KM best practices.
- Lead enterprise-wide digital initiatives across academic, research, and administrative domains.
IT Infrastructure & Services
- Oversee the design, operation, and security of campus-wide IT infrastructure including networks, data centers, cloud platforms, and ERP systems.
- Ensure uninterrupted, secure access to internet, Wi-Fi, and core applications for all stakeholders.
- Enforce cybersecurity protocols, data governance standards, and compliance with regulatory frameworks (UGC, AICTE, NAAC, GDPR-equivalent policies).
Knowledge Management
- Establish and maintain university knowledge repositories, research databases, and digital archives.
- Promote systems for effective knowledge sharing, collaboration, and content management.
- Develop data-driven dashboards, analytics tools, and decision-support systems for university planning and leadership insights.
Academic & Research Support
- Champion digital learning ecosystems including LMS platforms, MOOCs, and blended learning technologies.
- Support research initiatives with tools for data management, high-performance computing (HPC), and digital libraries.
- Foster collaborations with EdTech companies, research institutions, and knowledge partners.
Administration & Operations
- Manage ITKM budgets, procurement processes, licensing, and vendor relationships.
- Lead and mentor IT and KM teams; promote a culture of continuous learning and capacity building.
- Define and monitor SLAs, KPIs, and quality benchmarks for service delivery and operational efficiency.
Innovation & Emerging Technologies
- Explore and deploy cutting-edge technologies such as AI, big data, blockchain, and cloud-native applications.
- Drive Smart Campus initiatives, including IoT-based systems, digital identity platforms, and e-governance models.
- Leverage knowledge analytics to enhance university effectiveness and strategic decision-making.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or Knowledge Management.
- A Ph.D. is highly desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 20 years of progressive IT leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management role within academia or large-scale institutions.
- Proven expertise in enterprise IT systems (ERP, LMS, CRM), cybersecurity, digital transformation, and academic technologies.
- Strong background in designing and implementing knowledge management frameworks, digital repositories, and research data systems.
