Job summary

The Director, Documentation, Knowledge ManagementandAutomation is a key leader within the Amgen India Capability Center (AIN), accountable forestablishing, scaling, integrating, and sustaining global documentation, content creation, knowledge management, and automation capabilities that support Amgens manufacturing network.

This role defines the vision, operating model, and multi-year roadmap for Documentation,Knowledge ManagementandAutomation, translating Manufacturing Technology and Workforce Strategy (TWFS) objectives into scalable capabilities that improve documentationcreation,quality, speed, consistency, compliance, knowledge transfer,automation,and operational effectiveness across the enterprise.

The Director serves as the primary integration point between AIN-based teams and Manufacturing stakeholders, ensuring capabilities are fully embedded into enterprise standards, governance processes, and ways of working.The role has enterprise-wide impact through accountability for service delivery, operational performance, adoption, inspection readiness, capability maturity, and value realization across documentation, knowledge management, content development, automation, and operational support capabilities.

Roles and Responsibilities
Strategy Roadmap
  • Define and lead the Documentation,Knowledge ManagementAutomation vision, operating model, and multi-year capability roadmap aligned with global Manufacturing priorities.
  • Translate Manufacturing TWFS objectives into scalable capabilities, governance models, workforce plans, automation strategies, and sustainable service delivery models.
  • Drive transformation of manufacturing documentation and content creation processes through standardization, digitization, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Establish strategies that improve document quality, right-first-time performance, knowledge accessibility, training effectiveness,inspectionreadiness, and product release timelines.
  • Partnerwith Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, External Supply, Technology, and AI Data leaders toidentifyand prioritize future capability investments and automation opportunities.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise documentation standards, quality systems, digital platforms, and regulatory requirements.
Execution Delivery
  • Own end-to-end delivery and performance of AIN-based Documentation,Knowledge ManagementAutomationcapabilitiesandservices.
  • Lead teams delivering documentation, knowledge management, learning enablement, technical content, automation, and operational support services across the manufacturing network.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, efficient, compliant, and scalable services that support manufacturing operations across the global network.
  • Drive adoption of AI-enabled content generation, automated documentation workflows, knowledge management solutions, and digital content platforms.
  • Establish and deliver against defined service levels, operational metrics, quality standards, and business outcomes.
  • Drive measurable improvements in documentation cycle time, document quality, right-first-time performance, training effectiveness, knowledge transfer, inspection readiness, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure services support accelerated product release, reduced documentation burden, improved compliance, and enhanced user experience.
  • Lead teams responsible formaintainingand continuously improvingbusiness-critical documentation, content management, workflow automation, and knowledge management technologies.
  • Ensure supported platforms achieve defined reliability, availability, uptime, and service performance expectations whilemaintainingcompliance and operational continuity.
  • Establish effective support models, escalation pathways, incident management practices, and continuous improvement processes to sustain operational excellence.
Governance Compliance
  • Ensure all Documentation,KnowledgeManagementAutomation capabilities and services are executedin accordance withapplicableGxP, regulatory, quality,recordsretention, and data integrity requirements.
  • Establish governance forums that provide visibility to priorities, performance, risks, resource allocation, and value realization.
  • Maintain inspection readiness and support internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and quality assessments, asrequired.
  • Partner with Quality, Manufacturing, and Technology organizations toensure documentation processes and automation capabilitiesremaincompliant andaudit-ready.
  • Champion a culture of compliance, operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure appropriate controls, validation practices, documentation standards, and governance mechanisms are embedded within all supported capabilities.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as the primary liaison for Documentation, KnowledgeManagementAutomation capabilities across the global Manufacturing network.
  • Build strong partnerships across Manufacturing Operations, Quality, Engineering, Process Development, External Supply, Learning Development, Technology, and AI Data organizations.
  • Influence senior stakeholders to align priorities, investment decisions, and execution plans.
  • Ensure business needs are translated into scalable solutions that improve compliance, efficiency, user experience, and business outcomes.
  • Establish trusted relationships with site leaders, Quality leaders, and functional partners while balancing enterprise standardization with operational requirements.
  • Partner closely with business process owners and subject matter experts to continuously improve documentation and knowledge management practices.
Team Leadership Capability Building
  • Build, scale, and sustain a high-performing Documentation Content Creation Automation organization in AIN.
  • Developleadership benchstrength and critical capabilities acrossdocumentation, knowledge management, automation, digital enablement, and operational support capabilities.
  • Attract, develop, and retaintop talent while fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-accountability culture aligned to Amgen Leadership Attributes.
  • Establish structured onboarding, capability development, succession planning, and leadership development programs.
  • Embed enterprise standards, governance, operating rhythms, and performance expectations across the organization.
  • Build organizational capabilities in digital content management, AI-enabled documentation, knowledge management, automation, and operational excellence.
  • Set ambitious goals, drive accountability, and enable teams to deliver against strategic priorities.
Preferred Qualifications Desirable Attributes
  • 18 to 23 years of experience leadingenterprise documentation operations, quality systems, manufacturing support, knowledge management, content development, shared services, or operational excellence organizations within a regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling global capability centers, shared services organizations, or centers of excellence.
  • Strong understanding ofGxPdocumentation requirements, data integrity principles, inspection readiness, and regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience leading documentation transformation, content automation, knowledge management, or digital enablement initiatives with measurable business impact.
  • Experience implementing AI-enabled content creation, workflow automation, document management systems, learning technologies, or knowledge management solutions.
  • Experience leading organizations accountable for business-critical content management platforms, service management, operational support, and system reliability.
  • Strong understanding ofdocumentation management, regulated manufacturing processes, quality systems, data integrity, andinspectionreadiness.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across geographies, functions, and organizational boundaries.
  • Experience leading large-scale transformation, operating model design, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience establishinggovernance models, service delivery frameworks, KPIs, SLAs, and performance management systems.
  • Track record of developing high-performing teams and leadership pipelines in global, matrixed environments.

Relevant certifications in Quality, Operational Excellence, Lean, Six Sigma, Knowledge Management, Technical Writing, Learning Technologies, or related disciplines.
