Job summary

Standard Chartered India is seeking a Tax Specialist to prepare corporate tax returns and related computations for multiple jurisdictions from Chennai district. You will support IFRS reporting, ETR calculations, and quarterly tax entries while ensuring audits and compliance are executed with high quality and timeliness.

The role requires strong Excel and accounting skills, with 2+ years in tax environments and good knowledge of Indian tax laws.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Finance or Accounting is mandatory.
  • CA/CWA/MBA Finance is desirable.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in tax and accounting environments.
  • Good understanding of Indian income-tax laws and general tax principles.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare corporate income tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.
  • Prepare tax computations, Longview schedule updates, reconciliations, and tax journals for IFRS reporting quarterly.
  • Compute Effective Tax Rate (ETR).
  • Provide tax reporting and forecasting support to Tax teams.
  • Prepare current tax and deferred tax calculations for periodic entries.
  • Prepare tax audit and compliance reports.
  • Assist in document compilation for audit purposes including tax assessments and appeals.
  • Support Tax Risk Reporting process.
  • Identify and drive process efficiencies to improve accuracy and speed.

Job description

Job Summary
  • Preparation of corporate income tax returns for various jurisdictions not limiting to one.
  • Prepare Tax computations, Longview schedule updation, reconciliations, tax journals for IFRS Reporting purposes on a quarterly basis.
  • Computing Effective Tax Rate (ETR) calculations.
  • Provide tax reporting and forecasting operational support to the Tax teams
  • Preparation of current tax and deferred tax calculations to assist countries post accurate tax entries on a periodic basis.
  • Preparation of tax audit & compliance reports
  • Assisting in document compilation for audit purposes including tax assessments and appeals
  • Support Tax Risk Reporting process
  • Ability to manage and deliver high quality products meeting stringent timelines
  • Create and drive the team to create process efficiencies and add value in the process (i.e., improvise existing processes / standardise excel workings, etc.)

Qualifications
  • University degree preferable in Finance or Accounting (Mandatory)
  • Professional qualification such as CA, CWA or MBA Finance (Desirable)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in tax and accounting environments
  • Good understanding of general tax principles and accounting treatment for taxes (current & deferred tax)
  • Good understanding or knowledge of Indian or other country income-tax laws
