Job summary

Fi NOW is seeking a Digital System Engineer to design, integrate, and verify digital sub-systems for next-generation wireless products. The role interfaces with RF, antenna, firmware, and software teams to meet stringent performance standards for 5G NR, satellite, and related systems.

You will develop RTL blocks, use Cadence tools, and contribute to lab bring-up and field deployments. Strong HDL, DSP, Python/C++ skills, and Linux experience are essential for success.

Qualifications

• MSc (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in digital system design, FPGA/ASIC development, or embedded hardware engineering.
• Familiarity with satellite communication systems or 3GPP 5G NR standards is an advantage.
• Proficiency in SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL for RTL design and verification.
• Strong Cadence tool experience (Xcelium, Genus, Innovus).
• Knowledge of open-source tools such as Verilator, Icarus, OpenRoad is a plus.
• Knowledge of UVM for verification.
• C/C++ and Python programming skills for modelling and testing.
• Solid understanding of DSP principles.
• Familiarity with Linux-based development and test environments.
• Experience with lab equipment for hardware bring-up and debugging.
• Experience with antenna array systems, beamforming, or RF front-end integration is a plus.
• Knowledge about processor systems and SoC architectures is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and specify digital system architecture, including interfaces between baseband, RF front-end, and control/data-plane subsystems supporting beamforming, calibration, and RF control
• Collaborate with RF/antenna engineers to translate system-level requirements into digital implementation requirements
• Develop RTL design blocks and support verification environments, including UVM-based testbenches, for digital blocks
• Use EDA tools for simulation, synthesis, digital backend, equivalence and physical verification as part of the digital design flow
• Support hardware bring-up, integration and debugging of digital subsystems in lab and at customers
• Participate in reviews and specifications of digital functionality on PCBs and related software

Job description

We are looking for a Digital System Engineer to join our engineering team, working on the design,
integration and verification of digital sub-systems in our advanced wireless products. In this role you will
work closely with RF, antenna, firmware, and software teams to define and implement digital
architectures that meet demanding performance requirements for next-generation communication
systems, including 5G NR FR2/mmWave and satellite communication systems. You will play a key part in
bridging system-level requirements to software and digital hardware implementation.

Responsibilities

• Define and specify digital system architecture, including interfaces between baseband, RF front-end, and control/data-plane subsystems supporting beamforming, calibration, and RF control
• Collaborate with RF/antenna engineers to translate system-level requirements (e.g., 3GPP 5G NR specifications, satellite communication standards) into digital implementation requirements
• Develop RTL design blocks and support verification environments, including UVM-based testbenches, for digital blocks
• Use EDA tools for simulation, synthesis, digital backend, equivalence and physical verification as part of the digital design flow

What We’re Looking For

• MSc (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
• 3-5 years of experience in digital system design, FPGA/ASIC development, or embedded hardware engineering
• Familiarity with satellite communication systems or 3GPP 5G NR standards is an advantage
• Good knowledge of standard HDLs (SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL) for RTL design and verification
• Good knowledge about standard digital design flow using Cadence tools (Xcelium, Genus, Innovus, etc.)
• Knowledge about open-source tools, such Verilator, Icarus, OpenRoad is a plus
• Knowledge of UVM (Universal Verification Methodology) for verification
• C/C++ and Python programming skills for modelling and validation/testing
• Solid understanding of digital signal processing (DSP) principles
• Familiarity with Linux-based development and test environments (Linux shell scripting)
• Experience with lab equipment for hardware bring-up and debugging (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers)
• Experience with antenna array systems, beamforming, or RF front-end integration is a plus
• Knowledge about processor systems and SoC architectures is a plus
