Job summary

Aditya Birla Renewables Limited seeks a senior O&M and asset management lead for eBoP systems across 220 kV and 400–420 kV substations and transmission lines. You will ensure high asset availability, grid compliance, and reliable operations while coordinating with SLDC/NRLDC and other stakeholders.

You will drive vendor performance, manage critical spares, and oversee protection systems, relay coordination, USC, and communication networks, with emphasis on proactive forecasting and scheduling

Qualifications

  • Must hold a full-time BE/BTech in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 14–16 years of experience in eBoP / Substation / Transmission O&M.
  • Hands-on exposure to 220 kV and 400/420 kV substations and transmission lines.
  • Expertise in relay protection, relay coordination, USS, IDT, SAS and PLCC.

Responsibilities

  • Lead O&M of 220 kV / 400–420 kV substations and transmission lines to ensure safe operation.
  • Maintain substations, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
  • Oversee relay protection, coordination, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with SLDC/NRLDC, DISCOMs and grid stakeholders.
  • Understand forecasting and scheduling under Hybrid/RTC/BESS models.
  • Oversee SAS, PLCC and Fortee/communication systems.
  • Drive O&M vendors and service providers for timely deliverables.
  • Identify critical spares and manage inventory to minimize downtime.
  • Develop Emergency Preparedness Plans and readiness.
  • Support substation commissioning and energization processes.
  • Monitor performance, downtime, and monthly GMR/operational reports.
  • Coordinate O&M invoices and vendor deliverables.

Job description

1) Job Purpose

To lead the O&M and asset management of eBoP systems, including 220 kV / 400–420 kV substations, transmission lines, and associated electrical infrastructure for renewable energy projects. The role will ensure high asset availability, grid compliance, reliable operations, and effective coordination with vendors, utilities, SLDC/NRLDC, and other stakeholders.

2) Job Context & Major Challenges

The role is responsible for ensuring reliable and compliant operation of high-voltage electrical assets across renewable energy projects, including substations, transmission lines, transformers, protection systems, SAS, PLCC, and communication infrastructure.

Key challenges include maintaining high asset reliability, managing multiple O&M vendors, ensuring seamless grid communication, coordinating with SLDC/NRLDC, managing emergency situations and critical spares, and ensuring timely closure of technical and operational issues.

The role requires strong technical expertise in substation and transmission O&M, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to drive vendors and service providers to deliver results.

3) Principal Accountabilities & Supporting Actions
eBoP Asset Management

Lead O&M of 220 kV / 400–420 kV substations, transmission lines, and associated eBoP assets to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Substation & Transmission O&M

Ensure maintenance of substations, transmission lines, USS, IDT, power transformers, switchgear, and associated electrical systems.

Protection & Relay Coordination

Oversee relay protection systems, protection coordination, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure system reliability.

Grid Coordination

Coordinate with SLDC, NRLDC, DISCOMs, and other grid stakeholders for seamless grid operations and data communication.

Forecasting & Scheduling

Ensure understanding and effective coordination of forecasting and scheduling requirements under Hybrid / RTC / BESS models for captive and DISCOM projects.

SAS / Communication Systems

Oversee systems including SAS, PLCC, Fortee/communication systems, and ensure reliable data and communication connectivity.

Vendor Management

Drive O&M vendors, OEMs, and service providers for timely maintenance, issue resolution, performance, and contractual deliverables.

Spare Management

Ensure critical spare identification, availability, inventory control, and timely replenishment to minimize asset downtime.

Emergency Preparedness

Develop and maintain Emergency Preparedness Plans and ensure readiness for critical electrical and grid-related emergencies.

Commissioning Knowledge

Possess strong understanding of substation commissioning, testing, protection systems, and energization processes to effectively support O&M readiness.

Performance & Reporting

Monitor asset performance, downtime, maintenance activities, and prepare monthly GMR and operational reports.

Commercial & Invoicing

Coordinate O&M service invoices, vendor deliverables, and commercial closure with relevant internal teams.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Full-time B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering – Mandatory.
  • 14–16 years of experience in eBoP / Substation / Transmission O&M, preferably in Renewable Energy / Power sector.
  • Strong hands‑on exposure to 220 kV and 400/420 kV substations and transmission lines.
  • Expertise in relay protection, relay coordination, USS, IDT, power transformers, SAS and PLCC.
  • Experience coordinating with SLDC, NRLDC, DISCOMs and grid authorities.
  • Understanding of Forecasting & Scheduling, including Hybrid, RTC and BESS models for captive and DISCOM projects.
  • Strong knowledge of emergency preparedness, critical spare management, maintenance planning, and substation operations.
  • Working knowledge of substation commissioning and energization processes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple O&M vendors and service providers and drive timely resolution of issues.
  • Strong communication, leadership, networking, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with government and regulatory stakeholders.
