Job summary

Platform9 Systems is seeking a highly motivated DevOps Engineer to join our R&D organization. You will help build, maintain, and support the software engine powering our public SaaS platform, accelerating developer velocity and delivering higher quality with each release.

You will join a globally distributed team responsible for reliable, automated, and scalable build infrastructure. The role emphasizes CI/CD, Terraform, Linux, Python, and Bash in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in DevOps or SRE or Build Engineering roles.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code.
• Strong experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, TeamCity).
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure, or Oracle Cloud.
• Proficiency with Linux, system administration, Python and shell scripting.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and operate the software engine powering our public SaaS platform to accelerate developer velocity and improve build times.
• Design and manage infrastructure using Terraform and IaC best practices.
• Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines for fast, safe, and consistent software delivery.
• Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure and services in AWS and Linux environments.
• Write automation scripts in Python and Bash.
• Collaborate with product engineering, support, and customer teams to resolve issues and improve reliability.
• Participate in on-call rotations during US Eastern timezone hours.
• Work in an agile/scrum workflow with planning, retrospectives, and continuous delivery.
• Create and maintain technical docs and runbooks for operational processes.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled DevOps Engineer to join our R&D organization. In this role, you will help build, maintain, and support the software engine powers our public SaaS platform, accelerating developer velocity, improving build times and delivering higher quality with each new release.

You will be part of a globally distributed team responsible for delivering reliable, automated, and scalable build infrastructure and tooling. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in CI/CD, build engineering, test platform integrations, Jenkins or similar tools, Linux, Python, and Bash and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build, maintain, and operate our software engine that powers our public SaaS infrastructure, accelerating developer velocity, improving build times and
• Design and manage infrastructure using Terraform and infrastructure-as-code best practices
• Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, safe, and consistent software delivery

Required Qualifications:

• 3-6 years of experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering or Build Engineering roles
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, infrastructure as code, and managing cloud-native environments
• Strong experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Teamcity)
• Solid understanding and operational experience with a major cloud platform such as AWS or Oracle Cloud or Google Cloud or Azure
• Proficiency with Linux, system administration, Python and shell scripting
• A performance oriented mindset, with a strong desire to optimize build times, improve build reliability, and be relentlessly driven to make the software engine work faster and better.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile development environment
• Ability to work independently and proactively during US Eastern timezone hours

Nice to Have:

• Understanding of spec driven development using either Github spec-kit, or claude superpowers
• Understanding of decomposing long and complex builds into a more modular and component build process
• Experience with Golang
• Exposure to OpenStack environments
• Knowledge of cloud security and best practices for SaaS platforms
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
