Department: Trimble E-Tools

About the Role

Are you ready to elevate your career as a self-motivated DevOps Engineer? Trimble E-Tools is seeking an engineer with hands‑on experience in cloud platforms and AI‑assisted engineering frameworks to build and scale our developer experience and productivity ecosystem.

What You Will Do
  • Productivity Tooling Automation: Partner with divisional software engineering teams to design, automate, and deploy core tools aimed at measuring and optimizing the end‑to‑end software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • AI-PDLC Platform Governance: Maintain and optimize cloud‑native toolchains across a unified environment, directly executing the operational transition to an AI-Product Development Lifecycle (AI-PDLC) framework with zero operational gaps.
  • Engineering Performance Metrics: Instrument, track, and report on global engineering metrics utilizing industry‑standard delivery and experience signals (DORA and SPACE frameworks) to quantify feature velocity and tool ROI.
  • Standardized Dashboards: Build automated visualization workflows and metrics dashboards (via Domo) to capture key adoption trends, including the percentage of AI-generated code rewritten and active code in production.
  • Intelligent Support Workflows: Automate administrative platform infrastructure and develop AI‑influenced self‑service ticketing paths and virtual agents within Jira Service Management and FreshService.
  • Shift‑Left Security Compliance: Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to protect product environments by embedding automated shift‑left security controls via toolsets like Trufflehog, Mend, and Wiz.
  • Advanced Code Validation: Support exploratory validation pipelines, including AI-generated bill‑of‑materials (AIBOM) scanning to audit code generated by AI coding assistants.
  • Global Ecosystem Liaison: Act as a central hub between E‑Tools and engineering business units across 40+ countries to drive central feature adoption and deprecate localized plugins.
What Skills & Experience You Should Bring
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technology discipline, with 1 to 3 years of experience in cloud environments and scalable SaaS architectures.
  • Scripting & IaC Infrastructure: Proficiency in core scripting languages (Python, TypeScript, or Go) alongside experience utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC via Terraform/CloudFormation) and containerization tools.
  • Cloud Platform Foundations: Practical operational knowledge of cloud platforms, with primary focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and secondary exposure to Microsoft Azure or GCP configurations.
  • AI Tooling Integration: Proven hands‑on experience configuring or working alongside enterprise AI assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, Atlassian Rovo) within software development environments.
  • Model Context Protocol (MCP): Technical familiarity with utilizing the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to securely connect AI models to localized engineering frameworks, source repositories, and secure files.
  • Analytical Problem Solving: Strong capability to analyze raw engineering workflow data, draw out operational insights, and implement data‑driven process enhancements.
  • Communication Capabilities: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills suited to support a global, always‑on developer footprint of over 11,000 users.
