Position Overview

Job Title – Engagement Analyst

Location – Mumbai

Role Description

Our dedicated DWS ESG Integration team is part of the CIO for Responsible Investments with activities integrated into the investment process, designed to go beyond the fiduciary duties. The CIO Office for Responsible Investments is organized across responsibilities: the Responsible Investment Center, our ESG Engine and Solutions team, and our dedicated Corporate Governance Center. The main responsibilities of the ESG Integration Team are:

  • Develop, drive and oversee integration of ESG topics in every step of the investment process.
  • Teach, assess and support global active analysts/ PMs in the integration of ESG topics in their analysis and/or portfolio construction.
  • Organize and undertake mandatory/ optional ESG trainings for the investment platform globally.
  • Responsible for DWS ESG Integration Policy and DWS Engagement Policy.
  • Engagement: Gives support to engagement leads, drive Focus & Strategic engagements and inform Engagement Council on DWS engagement progress.

Your key responsibilities

  • Analysis of the environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance and management of ESG risks and opportunities of issuers (companies and sovereigns) in the context of DWS Engagement process. Creating original content after a deep and thorough research that can be used for driving engagement activities, for supporting engagement leads, and for creating sustainable outcomes of our Focus & Strategic engagements and inform Engagement Council on DWS engagement progress.
  • Support the investment division in increasing the level and quality of their ESG integration activities, to drive them to adopt best practice ESG standards (e.g. Research, investment decision, etc.).
  • Oversee the quality of the ESG narratives developed by fundamental analysts/ PMs, analysing the materiality of ESG topics, explanation of the analysis and transparency given on the impact of those ESG topics in the risk/return of the investment recommendation/ investment decision.
  • Communicate the results of the ESG Oversight to the analyst/ PM as well as audit inbox and work with the analyst/PM for corrective actions (issues to be improved, deadline, etc.).

Your skills and experience

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Socio-Economics, Sustainable Development or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a role as a fundamental analyst with a good understanding of equity or credit investment concepts. Thorough understanding of ESG concepts.
  • Very good knowledge of Asset Management business.
  • Proficiency with using various ESG data sources.
  • Passionate about responsible investing/stewardship and having a positive impact.
  • Excellent communication skills with extremely high proficiency level in writing publishable content for the global audience.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to formulate clearly & present information in a compelling manner.
  • High level of comfort in dealing with senior management.
  • Highly motivated, self-sufficient and ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the team.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
