Job summary
Husky Technologies is seeking a Designer, Development - Mechanical Tooling in Chennai to transform product definitions into practical design concepts and robust tooling solutions. The role requires strong CAD skills, an eye for detail, and collaboration across disciplines to deliver high-quality, manufacturable designs.
You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, lead design iterations, and support product development processes.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Experience designing tooling and automated machinery is an asset.
- GD&T knowledge is advantageous.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities are essential.
- Hands-on ability to perform basic mechanical assembly tasks.
Responsibilities
- Convert Product Definition into design concept with minimal guidance.
- Complete design execution applying design standards.
- Create part modeling and drafting; assemblies, BOMs, release to BAAN.
- Contribute to design reviews and continuous improvement activities.
- Design risk mitigation including participation in DFMEA.
- Create Design Documents and Validation Plans.
- Verify and monitor engineering documentation.

Work within a team of multi discipline Engineers/Design Specialists in the development of new products. This includes all steps within a formal product development process and focusing on conceptual design and design discipline while delivering high quality, high performance, reliable and cost-effective designs on time.
- Convert Product Definition into design concept with minimal guidance

- Experience selecting and sizing various components is an asset (for example, but not limited to sensors, bushings, bearings, seals, servo motors, pneumatics, etc.)
- Experience designing and building tooling and machinery with a focus on manufacturability is an asset
- GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance stack up analysis experience is an advantage
- Hands on – ability to complete basic mechanical assembly tasks
Post-secondary education (Bachelor’s in engineering preferred) or equivalent work experience.
- Other designers in own and other disciplines, purchasing team members, assembly team members, project team members, technicians, engineering team leaders, engineering managers and possibly the COO and/or CEO.
