Job summary

Gensler is seeking a Senior Designer to collaborate with our design team on innovative design solutions and to guide the design through construction documentation. You will translate architect’s sketches into realized 2D/3D models and communicate design concepts through renderings, drawings, and hands-on drawings.

You will participate across all project phases, lead junior designers, and coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors to achieve project goals while upholding

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, or equivalent.
• 10+ years of related project experience.
• Proficiency in modeling using 2D/3D software, such as Revit, Octane, 3dViz, 3ds MAX, and/or Rhino utilizing V-Ray.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and/or SketchUp.
• Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices required; Portfolios should include at least 1 project with this particular focus, and candidates should be prepared to talk to this in their interview, especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard , Fitwell and /or Net Zero Building certification.
• Knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and building codes
• State licensure and LEED accreditation a plus
• Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and parametric design software, including Grasshopper, a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all project phases, including conceptual designs, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents and production
• Collaborate with design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies and other vendors to meet overall project objectives
• Produce graphic presentations, 3D renderings, and construction drawings
• Utilize hand rendering techniques to communicate design concepts
• Guides skill development of junior designers
• Contributes to and reinforces the “team effort” method of producing design projects.
• Takes responsibility for implementing approved briefing approach
• Prepares the design analysis and research
• Oversees the design development package for production
• Works with Technical coordinator and technical team to ensure design intent is accurately interpreted in documents
• With Design Manager, liaises as necessary with client on issues of design.
• Participates in selection of FF&E color palettes & material presentations, and generate specifications
