Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Design Manager to lead our customer-focused design and RD teams at our Hyderabad facility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical design, product development, and engineering leadership, with hands-on expertise in Solid Edge CAD, Product Data Management (PDM), and SAP business systems.

This role is critical in driving product customization, innovation, design accuracy, and timely engineering deliverables to support both standard and bespoke customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

Design Product Development Leadership:

Lead the end-to-end design of mechanical seals, seal support systems, metal bellows, and bearing seals.

Oversee and mentor a team of design engineers and RD specialists.

Ensure all designs meet functional, reliability, and manufacturability standards.

Approve drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation for production and customer submissions.

Project Customer Interface:

Translate customer specifications and application requirements into optimized design solutions.

Support the sales and applications teams with technical design inputs and customizations.

Ensure timely design delivery in line with project milestones.

RD and Innovation:

Manage the RD pipeline for new products, performance improvements, and cost optimization.

Drive the adoption of new materials, design methods, and test validation processes.

Coordinate with testing and manufacturing teams for prototype development and validation.

CAD, PDM Business Systems Management:

Ensure consistent use of Solid Edge for 3D modeling and drafting.

Manage design data and workflows through PDM systems.

Integrate and align engineering activities with SAP systems for BOMs, materials, and production planning.

Process, Standards Compliance:

Develop and enforce design processes, quality standards, and documentation protocols.

Ensure compliance with relevant industry and internal standards (API, ISO, etc.).

Conduct regular design reviews and risk assessments.

Qualifications Experience

Education: Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master s degree is a plus).

Experience: 8 12 years of mechanical design experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.

Proven expertise in Solid Edge CAD software and PDM systems.

Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems is required.

In-depth knowledge of rotating equipment, sealing systems, and pressure-containing components.

Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills.

Experience working with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, QA/QC, and supply chain.
