ROLE SUMMARY (Purpose of the Role)

Perform fluid flow and thermal analyses for steam turbine components and systems using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and engineering analysis tools. Execute detailed engineering of steam turbine stationary components ensuring manufacturable, high-quality design outputs that meet project specifications and performance requirements. Contribute to the design and optimization of steam turbine flow-path components to achieve performance, reliability, manufacturability, and project objectives. Play a pivotal role in execution by ensuring timely delivery of high-quality design outputs aligned with customer requirements and project timelines

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses of steam turbine components and systems, including steam paths, nozzles, diaphragms, blade passages, steam chambers, valves, and sealing systems. Develop computational models, generate meshes, define boundary conditions, and execute simulations to evaluate flow, pressure, temperature, and performance characteristics
  2. Support the design and optimization of steam turbine flow-path components by evaluating aerodynamic performance, efficiency, pressure losses, flow distribution, leakage characteristics, and thermal behaviour. Provide recommendations to improve component and system performance while meeting design and operational requirements.
  3. Execute detailed design calculations for steam turbine components and systems using both OEM-specific software and general engineering tools such as ANSYS-FLUENT. Interpret design requirements, apply thermodynamic and mechanical principles, and validate results against performance criteria. Perform hand calculations and cross-verification using classical engineering methods to ensure accuracy and robustness of design outputs.
  4. Generates project-specific engineering documents including Bill of Materials (BOMs), interface control documents, design data sheets, and technical deviation reports. Supports project teams with timely updates to engineering deliverables aligned with project milestones.
  5. Works closely with Technology Provider, manufacturing, quality, and project management teams to ensure alignment of design outputs with execution needs. Provides technical support during design reviews, vendor audits, and customer interactions
  6. Investigate and resolve technical issues related to turbine performance, steam flow behavior, pressure losses, efficiency degradation, and operational anomalies. Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities and recommend corrective actions based on engineering analysis and simulation results
  7. Stay current with advancements in CFD methodologies, turbomachinery technologies, and simulation tools. Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives and support the enhancement of engineering standards and analytical capabilities within the organization.
