Job summary

Larsen & Toubro in Chennai invites a Design Lead (Civil/Structural) to own the civil and structural design for PV solar power plants across multiple sites, including Chennai, Faridabad, Pune, and Hyderabad.

With 5–7 years of relevant experience and a B.Tech in Civil or M.Tech in Structural Engineering, you will lead detailed engineering, coordinate with Electrical, Instrumentation and Mechanical teams, and guide draftsmen to ensure on-time delivery and quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification is B.Tech in Civil or M.Tech in Structural Engineering.
• 5–7 years of experience in design aspects of Solar PV Power Plants, Thermal Power Plants, Power Distribution Projects.
• Capable of complete design and detailed engineering of Civil/Structural aspects for PV Solar Power plants.
• Experience coordinating with Electrical, Instrumentation and Mechanical disciplines.
• Able to lead a team of draughts persons to manage engineering activities within budget and timeline.

Responsibilities

• Timely review of the drawings developed by the draftsman
• Detail design of Civil and Structural components of Solar Plants such as Module mounting Steel Structures, Buildings, Road, Drain, Fence / Compound Wall, Grading and levelling cable Trenches
• Preparation and review of Pre-bid queries, DBR, BOQ & Scope of work for Proposal Engineering & Project Engineering.
• Propose optimization Ideas during Pre-bid stage and also during project stage to reduce the Project Cost
• Ensure compliance to specification requirements
• Review of drawings and Documentation conforming to Quality systems and Check List
• Review of Vendor Offers and Documents
• Pre-Tender Engineering including estimation of BOM (Bill of Materials) and Offer Reviews

Minimum Qualification: B.Tech in Civil /M.Tech in Structural Engineering

Experience: 5 – 7 years (Must have experience in design aspects of Solar PV Power Plants, Thermal Power Plants, Power Distribution Projects)

Objective: The person shall be capable of complete design and detailed engineering of Civil Structural Engineering of PV Solar Power plants. The Design Engineer is capable of carrying out the entire design for a project or a set of smaller projects including co-ordination with other disciplines viz., Electrical, Instrumentation and Mechanical. Design Engineers shall work with a team of draughts person to manage the Engineering activities within budget, deliver on time and maintaining a high quality of engineering

Key Responsibilities

Technical Expertise

Design Engineer shall be capable of executing the engineering activities for civil & structural covering control room buildings, transformer foundations, outdoor equipment foundations, inverter rooms, grading, roads and drainage, outdoor steel structures and miscellaneous works related to the Solar Power Plant. Design Engineer shall be able to review Vendor engineering documents with respect to Civil & Structural design
