Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 3D CAD models for components and assemblies in NX across air suspension, steering, air intake, exhaust, and frame attachments.
• Design hangers, brackets, and heat shields meeting functional and packaging requirements.
• Generate detailed 2D manufacturing drawings with GD&T, BOM, tolerances, and welding specs.
• Apply GD&T to ensure proper fit, form and function.
• Develop sheet metal components considering stamping and bending.
• Model plastic and EPDM components with advanced surfacing.
• Design tubing and routed components to meet performance and manufacturability.
• Ensure designs align with automotive packaging and vehicle integration constraints.
• Perform ad-hoc NX simulations to validate concepts.

Job Description

This role focuses on designing and developing automotive components across multiple domains, including air suspension, steering, air intake, exhaust systems, and frame attachments. The Design Engineer will create and refine 3D models and 2D drawings using Siemens NX, ensuring robust, manufacturable designs that integrate seamlessly into the vehicle package. The position combines hands‑on CAD work with a strong understanding of sheet metal, casting, plastics, and surfacing to deliver high‑quality, production‑ready designs.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify detailed 3D CAD models for components and assemblies using Siemens NX across multiple domains, including air suspension, steering, air intake, exhaust, and frame attachments.
• Design hangers, brackets, and heat shields that meet functional, durability, and packaging requirements.
• Generate comprehensive 2D manufacturing drawings that include GD&T, dimensional tolerances, bills of materials (BOM), and welding specifications.
• Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure proper fit, form, and function of components and assemblies.
• Develop sheet metal components with consideration for stamping, bending, and other forming processes.
• Design cast components with appropriate draft, radii, and wall thickness to support manufacturability and structural performance.
• Model plastic and EPDM components, applying advanced surfacing techniques to achieve complex shapes and high‑quality surfaces.
• Design tubing and routed components to meet performance, packaging, and manufacturability requirements.
• Ensure all designs align with automotive packaging constraints and overall vehicle integration requirements.
• Perform ad-hoc NX simulations, as needed, to validate design concepts and support engineering decisions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders such as manufacturing, quality, and integration teams to refine designs and resolve issues.
• Update and maintain CAD data, drawings, and documentation to support design reviews, releases, and change management.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in Siemens NX (UG NX / Unigraphics) for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
• Strong experience in sheet metal design, including knowledge of stamping and bending processes.
• Hands‑on experience designing cast components with an understanding of casting processes and constraints.
• Experience in plastics and EPDM component design, with a focus on advanced surfacing techniques.
• Ability to create high‑quality surfacing designs for complex geometries.
• Experience designing tubing and routed components for automotive applications.
• Solid understanding and practical application of GD&T in 2D drawings and 3D models.
• Understanding of automotive packaging requirements and vehicle integration principles.
• Ability to generate detailed manufacturing drawings including tolerances, BOM, and welding specifications.
• Capability to perform basic or ad-hoc simulations in NX to support design validation.
