Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Chennai is seeking a skilled Substation Design Engineer with strong BIM capability. You will handle detailed design for AIS & GIS substations above 66kV, coordinate across MEP, Civil and secondary interfaces, and independently manage tender engineering tasks.

Responsibilities include design calculations, layout development, BOM/BOQ preparation, vendor coordination, and ensuring compliance with IEC/IEEE standards. Strong Revit/AutoCAD, ETAP, and CDEGS proficiency is expected.

Qualifications

• Detailed design experience of two AIS & GIS substations above 66kV.
• Knowledge of Substation interface with MEP, Civil and secondary systems.
• Tender engineering: prepare layout, SLD and BOM/BOQ for major equipment.
• Proficient in BIM and design tools: Revit/AutoCAD; experience in BIM authoring.
• Ability to interpret drawings, EIRs, and coordinate feedback.

Responsibilities

• Perform primary engineering and ensure adherence to quality processes.
• Coordinate with vendors for clarifications and resolve routine issues.
• Interact with customers and consultants for technical alignment.
• Prepare layout and SLDs; support tender and project execution.
• Apply safety practices and ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards.

Responsibilities

• 1.Having detailed design experience of minimum two projects of each AIS & GIS substation from 66kV & Above


• 2. Statcom/SVC/Mobile SS/Prefab SS Knowledge - Importance of power quality projects in the grid integration.


• 3. Substation Interface Engineering with MEP, Civil & Secondary - Handles interface coordination and resolves routine issues.


• 4. Vendor Co-ordination - Independently coordinates with vendors for clarifications.


• 5. Customer & Consultant Co-ordination - Handles routine customer & Consultant technical coordination.


• 6. Tender Engineering - Understand the requirements from the sales, handle tender engineering independently, prepare Layout & SLD, BOM/BOQ of all major equipment, accessories.


• 7. Project Engineering - Capable to handle the primary engineering, follow the Quality & processes & identify the


• 8. Knowledge of Safety aspects in engineering and its applications.
