Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of Genset package from concept selection through detailed design, ensuring compliance with Caterpillar’s engineering standards and regional regulations.
- Technical Expertise: Provide strong technical leadership with deep knowledge of engineering fundamentals, structural design & fabrication. Understanding FEA inputs and effectively interpret analysis results to convert them into robust design solutions.
- Manufacturing: In-depth knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), material selection, welding, engineering drawings, manufacturing processes and package Bill of Material (BOM).
- Interface & Cross Functional Collaboration: Lead interface management across global cross functional engineering teams and suppliers to ensure holistic package fitment, system integration, and functional integrity throughout the product lifecycle.
- Design Optimization: Apply engineering principles and analytical insights to optimize designs for manufacturability, performance, durability, cost effectiveness , and ease of assembly.
Experience required
- Strong engineering fundamentals, including hands-on design calculations, structural analysis, and the ability to interpret and apply FEA results to develop robust, compliant designs.
- Proven expertise in structural and fabrication design, including sheet metal design and integration of large assemblies.
- Demonstrated experience delivering manufacturing ready designs, with solid knowledge of GD&T, materials, welding practices, engineering drawings, and BOM development.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling, detailing, and design validation (Creo or equivalent) within an industrial product development environment.
- Strong project management with track record of leading or executing complex, high impact engineering programs in regulated, global manufacturing organizations, meeting quality, cost, and schedule commitments.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/master's degree in mechanical engineering with minimum experience of 5 years in relevant field.
- 1+ years of experience working on sheet metal design and handling large assemblies.
Product Design - MFG
- Develops improvement plans for senior management and evaluates the outcome of the design against the functionality.
- Advices others on the development of multiple products and their functionality.
- Trains others on advanced tools and approaches of product design.
- Monitors the processes and procedures of a complex product design to ensure functional requirements are met.
- Evaluates feedback from customers and consults on functional weaknesses.
- Controls design and development costs of a proposed product through effective resource coordination.
Product Design and Development
- Develops organizational standards and processes to maximize complex product services' efficiency and effectiveness.
- Creates and introduces new techniques that expedite or simplify the development process.
- Supervises the management of multiple and diverse types of products or services.
- Develops proof-of-concept exercises to prove or disprove validity of proposed products.
- Advises on the appropriate solutions to complex product design and development problems.
- Designs working prototypes of a variety of proposed products or services.
This job roles requires to be in office 5-days a week.
