Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Design Coordinator to lead design coordination for aviation and airport projects. You will coordinate across architecture, structural, MEP, and civil teams, ensure compliance with aviation standards, and deliver high-quality design outputs on schedule.

The ideal candidate has 5–15 years of experience in design coordination for airport infrastructure and will liaison effectively with clients, regulators, and project managers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–15 years of experience in design coordination, with a strong focus on aviation and airport infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams for large-scale airport terminal, runway, or ancillary facility projects.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage design activities across architecture, structural, MEP, civil, and systems engineering to align with project objectives.
  • Act as primary liaison between design teams, project managers, contractors, and clients to enable smooth communication.
  • Review and validate design deliverables for compliance with project specifications and aviation standards.
  • Prepare, monitor, and update design schedules to ensure timely submission of deliverables.
  • Maintain documentation of design revisions, approvals, and correspondence for audit purposes.
  • Conduct technical reviews to ensure feasibility, constructability and aviation code compliance.
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts through proactive coordination with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with airport authorities and clients to ensure aviation safety and operational requirements.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure design accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Monitor design progress and flag risks with corrective actions as needed.

Job Description

TheDesign Coordinator will play a key role in managing and coordinating design activities for aviation and airport projects. The role requires ensuring seamless collaboration between multidisciplinary teams, maintaining compliance with project specifications, and delivering high-quality design outputs within stipulated timelines. The ideal candidate will have 5–15 years of experience in design coordination, specifically in airport infrastructure projects.

  • Coordinate and manage design activities across various disciplines (architecture, structural, MEP, civil, and systems engineering) to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Act as the primary liaison between design teams, project managers, contractors, and clients to facilitate smooth communication and collaboration.
  • Review and validate design deliverables, ensuring compliance with project specifications, aviation standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare, monitor, and update design schedules, ensuring timely submission of deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of design revisions, approvals, and correspondence for audit and project tracking purposes.
  • Conduct technical reviews of design submissions to ensure feasibility, constructability, and compliance with aviation codes and standards (e.g., ICAO, FAA, IATA).
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts or discrepancies through proactive coordination with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with airport authorities, regulatory bodies, and clients to ensure design compliance with aviation safety and operational requirements.
  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure design accuracy and adherence to project standards.
  • Monitor design progress and performance, flagging risks or delays, and recommending corrective actions.

Additional Information
  • Strong knowledge of aviation design standards and codes (ICAO, FAA, IATA, etc.).
  • Proficiency in design tools and software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Navisworks, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills to manage complex design workflows.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder management and team collaboration.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and resolve design challenges effectively.
