Job summary

Shelter Studios designs premium, booking-focused websites for luxury hospitality clients. You will lead design across websites built on Squarespace, Wix and other platforms, collaborating directly with the founders to shape branding, logos and related collateral.

The role demands an editorial eye, strong typography, and ability to manage multiple projects with deadlines. Remote work with overlap to Sydney business hours is required.

Australia’s leading agency for luxury hospitality is hiring. Shelter Studios works exclusively with the country’s most beautiful places to stay, eat and escape. Coastal retreats, farm stays, alpine collections, chef-led dining rooms, wellness properties. Our clients are the ones people save to their camera roll and plan a year around, and our job is to make sure the world sees them properly.

This is not a volume agency. We take on a small number of properties and we go deep. The work is editorial, considered and held to a standard closer to a magazine than a template library. The people who thrive here tend to be the people who go on to build something of their own. The role

You own design across the agency. Most of the time that means websites: designing and building beautiful, booking-focused sites in Squarespace and Wix (and other platforms) for our hospitality clients. The rest of the time it means the creative work that comes up when you work closely with founder-led businesses. A rebrand, a new logo, a menu, a sign, a pitch deck, a set of icons someone needed yesterday.

This is a senior role. You set the visual standard for everything that leaves the agency, and you work directly with the founders, not through three layers of account management.

What you will own

• Website design and build in Squarespace, Wix (and others), from sitemap and wireframe through to launch. Sites that look like the property feels and make booking or enquiring effortless.
• Refreshes and rebuilds of existing client sites, including tidying up what a previous designer left behind.
• Brand identity work: logos, rebrands, colour and type systems, and simple brand guidelines clients can actually use.
• Ad hoc design across print and digital. Menus, collateral, signage, EDM templates, social assets, decks and the small design elements that crop up every week.
• Image selection and treatment, so every page shows the property at its best.
• Basic on-page SEO, mobile optimisation and site speed as part of every build, not an afterthought.
• Working alongside our social and paid media leads so the website, the grid and the ads all look like the same brand.

These are non-negotiable

• A portfolio of live websites you designed and built in Squarespace and/or Wix. Real URLs, not mockups.
• A refined, editorial eye. Strong typography, generous use of space, restraint, and a feel for imagery.
• Brand and logo work in your portfolio, not just web.
• Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Figma.
• The ability to run several projects at once and hit deadlines without being chased.
• Excellent written English. Our clients and their guests are Australian, and a site with clumsy copy or typos is not finished.
• The ability to start immediately.

If your idea of a luxury website is a stock template with the logo swapped in, this is not the role for you. We mean that kindly.

Preferred

Experience designing for hotels, accommodation, restaurants, wineries or other premium hospitality brands will be given clear preference. Familiarity with booking engine integrations (Little Hotelier, Cloudbeds, SiteMinder, Resy, OpenTable or similar), light copywriting skills, and basic motion or video editing are all a bonus.
