Job summary

Adani Group seeks an experienced QA/QC professional for mechanical erection quality control in Thermal Power projects. You will monitor compliance with QAPs and ITPs, review methods, and verify material traceability and documentation.

Responsibilities include witnessing critical inspections, coordinating NDT, hydro tests, and commissioning activities, and ensuring punch points are closed before handover.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–10 years in QA/QC or field quality assurance for thermal power, EPC, steel, oil & gas sectors.
  • Experience with supercritical/subcritical thermal power project construction is preferred.

  • Conduct stage-wise inspections of mechanical erection activities (Boiler, Turbine, BOP, CHP, etc.).
  • Review construction methodologies and ensure adherence to quality procedures.
  • Verify material traceability and quality documentation; witness inspections and tests.
  • Coordinate NDT and hydro tests; ensure punch points closed before handover.
  • Maintain quality records, NCRs, audits, and turnover dossiers.

Job description

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with approved Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs), Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), technical specifications, and project standards.
  • Conduct stage-wise inspections of mechanical erection activities for Boiler, Turbine, BOP, CHP, Ash Handling, Piping, Tanks, and Static Equipment.
  • Review construction methodologies and ensure adherence to quality procedures.
  • Verify material traceability, inspection records, and quality documentation.
Mechanical Erection Quality Control
  • Inspect fabrication, erection, alignment, fit-up, welding, and assembly activities.
  • Monitor installation quality of pressure parts, ducts, pipelines, structures, rotating equipment, and auxiliaries.
  • Witness critical inspections and testing activities as per approved procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with drawings, vendor manuals, and engineering specifications.
Welding & NDT Quality
  • Monitor welding activities and qualification requirements.
  • Ensure approved WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications are available and followed.
  • Coordinate and witness NDT activities including RT, UT, MT, PT, and visual inspections.
  • Review NDT reports and ensure timely closure of quality observations.
  • Participate in hydro tests, flushing activities, equipment trials, and commissioning inspections.
  • Verify completion of punch points before system handover.
  • Ensure mechanical systems meet quality acceptance criteria before commissioning.
Vendor & Contractor Quality Management
  • Conduct quality surveillance of contractors and subcontractors.
  • Monitor contractor quality performance and compliance.
  • Support vendor inspections and expediting activities when required.
  • Follow up on quality deviations and corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain quality records, inspection reports, NCRs, and audit observations.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of quality dossiers and turnover packages.
  • Track closure of non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Generate periodic quality performance reports for project management.
Audit & Compliance
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Support implementation of ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and statutory regulations.
Qualifications

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 5-10 years of experience in QA/QC or Field Quality Assurance for Thermal Power, Power Projects, EPC, Heavy Engineering, Steel, Oil & Gas, or Process Industries.
  • Experience in supercritical/subcritical thermal power project construction will be preferred.
