Job summary

Adani Power Limited in Korba, Chhattisgarh, is seeking a Deputy Manager to lead construction mechanical activities for BTG and BOP packages in a high-capacity thermal power project. The role requires overseeing erection, testing and commissioning while ensuring compliance with quality, safety and schedule norms.

The candidate should have 8–12 years of experience in 600 MW+ or supercritical thermal power projects and strong EPC coordination skills with multiple vendors.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 8-12 years in thermal power plant construction.
• Experience in EPC, project construction, erection, testing and commissioning.
• Experience with supercritical plants and large MW projects (600 MW+).

Responsibilities

• Execute mechanical construction activities for BTG and BOP packages.
• Monitor erection, installation, alignment, testing and commissioning.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs and cross-functional teams.
• Monitor resource deployment including manpower, equipment, tools and materials.

Job description

Project Execution & Construction Management

• Execute mechanical construction activities for Boiler, Turbine, Generator (BTG) and Balance of Plant (BOP) packages.
• Monitor erection, installation, alignment, testing and commissioning activities of mechanical equipment.
• Ensure project activities are completed as per approved drawings, technical specifications, quality standards and project schedule.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants and cross-functional teams for smooth project execution.
• Monitor resource deployment including manpower, equipment, tools and materials.

Boiler, Turbine & Mechanical Systems

• Supervise erection and commissioning activities of:
  • Boiler Pressure Parts
  • Boiler Structures
  • Steam Generators
  • Coal Mills
  • Air Preheaters (APH)
  • ESP
  • Steam Turbine & Auxiliaries
  • Condenser Systems
  • Cooling Water Systems
  • Mechanical BOP Equipment
• Monitor critical piping erection including Main Steam, Hot Reheat, Cold Reheat, Feed Water and auxiliary piping systems.

Planning & Progress Monitoring

• Prepare and track project schedules and milestones.
• Conduct daily, weekly and monthly progress reviews with contractors and project stakeholders.
• Monitor construction progress and identify schedule risks.
• Ensure timely closure of punch points and commissioning observations.

Quality & Safety Compliance

• Ensure adherence to project quality plans, inspection protocols and statutory requirements.
• Monitor compliance with safety standards, HIRA, PTW, LOTO and EHS procedures.
• Participate in audits, quality inspections and safety reviews.
• Drive a zero-harm culture across all project activities.
• Coordinate with OEMs such as BHEL, GE, Siemens, Doosan, Toshiba and other package vendors.
• Evaluate contractor performance and ensure achievement of project milestones.
• Monitor material availability, inventory management and site logistics.

Qualifications

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Experience

• 8 to 12 Years of relevant experience in Thermal Power Plant Construction Projects.
• Experience in 300 MW, 500 MW, 600 MW, 660 MW or 800 MW thermal power projects.
• Experience in EPC, Project Construction, Erection, Testing & Commissioning.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Experience with organizations such as Adani Power, NTPC, BHEL, L&T Power, Tata Projects, ISGEC, Power Mech, GE Power, Siemens Energy, Doosan, JSW Energy, Vedanta Power, Reliance Power, Jindal Power, or other major thermal power project organizations.
• Strong exposure to construction and commissioning of supercritical thermal power plants.
• Proven track record in achieving construction milestones while maintaining safety, quality, and project timelines.
• Ability to lead site teams, contractors, and multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
