The Deputy General Manager/General Manager - Design & Testi ng role leads the full development and validation cycle for automotive mechanical products, from customer requirements and feasibility assessment through to production launch. Reporting to the Design & Testi ng assistant vice president, the position plays a key part in leading technical teams, managing product risks, and coordinating activities across the development process.
Manage the full development cycle from customer requirements and feasibility assessment through design, prototyping, validation, customer approval, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and start of production (SOP)
Review 2D and 3D drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), specifications, materials, bills of materials, design calculations, test plans, and validation results
Apply Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), design reviews, lessons learned, and Engineering Change Request and Engineering Change Notice controls to manage product risks and changes
Lead the Design and Testing teams by setting priorities, allocating resources, monitoring schedules, and developing team capabilities
Lead root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for design, testing, production, and customer‑related issues
Ensure the controlled release and revision management of drawings, bills of materials, test reports, and confidential customer technical information
Coordinate technical activities with customers, group companies, Sales, Quality, Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, suppliers, and global or overseas engineering teams
Communicate effectively in English and review or approve technical deliverables within the assigned authority
Proven experience leading automotive Design and Testing teams at manager or head‑of‑department level
End‑to‑end product development experience covering customer requirements, design, testing, validation, approval, and production launch; drafting‑only or manufacturing‑only experience is not sufficient
Direct experience with control cables or window regulators
Experience working with Japanese original equipment manufacturers or Japanese Tier‑1 suppliers
Experience coordinating with global or overseas engineering teams
Working knowledge of CATIA V5 or an equivalent computer‑aided design, product lifecycle management, enterprise resource planning, or drawing management system
Experience managing validation laboratories and durability, environmental, strength, friction, wear, or noise, vibration, and harshness testing
Experience in value analysis and value engineering, localisation, benchmarking, and cost‑reduction activities
Knowledge of IATF 16949 or ISO 9001 audits and customer‑specific requirements
The position is based in Gurgaon/Manesar, and domestic and overseas travel may be required
