Job summary

Hitachi Energy India Limited is seeking a Demand Planner to develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts, ensuring optimal inventory levels and supporting the S&OP process.

You will analyze historical data, market trends, and promotional activity to drive reliable plans, collaborate with sales, marketing and supply chain, and help optimize production and procurement based on demand signals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in SCM, operations research, or related field.
• 3–5 years in demand planning, forecasting, or related analytical role.
• Experience with statistical forecasting techniques and planning software.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Knowledge of S&OP processes is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Generate and maintain accurate demand forecasts at various levels of aggregation using models, historical data, market intelligence, and input from sales and marketing teams.
• Analyze historical sales data, market trends, promotional activities, and new product introductions to identify demand patterns and forecast drivers.
• Collaborate with sales, marketing, product management, and supply chain to gather insights and validate forecast assumptions.
• Monitor forecast accuracy, identify variances, and implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
• Participate in the S&OP process, presenting demand plans and risks/opportunities for consensus forecasting.
• Support inventory optimization by providing accurate demand signals to production and procurement.
• Develop and maintain KPIs related to demand planning and report performance.
• Utilize advanced planning software to enhance forecasting capabilities and efficiency.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement within demand planning.

Job Responsibilities

• Generate and maintain accurate demand forecasts at various levels of aggregation (product, product family, customer) using statistical models, historical data, market intelligence, and input from sales and marketing teams.
• Analyze historical sales data, market trends, promotional activities, and new product introductions to identify demand patterns and forecast drivers.
• Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, product management, and supply chain teams to gather insights and validate forecast assumptions.
• Monitor forecast accuracy, identify significant variances, and implement corrective actions to improve forecast reliability.
• Participate in the S&OP process, presenting demand plans, highlighting potential risks and opportunities, and contributing to consensus forecasting.
• Support inventory optimization initiatives by providing accurate demand signals to production and procurement teams.
• Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) related to demand planning and report on performance regularly.
• Utilize advanced planning software and tools to enhance forecasting capabilities and efficiency.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement within the demand planning function.

Job Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Research, Statistics, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or a similar analytical role, preferable within the manufacturing or energy sector.
• Proven experience with statistical forecasting techniques and demand planning software (e.g., SAP APO, Oracle Demantra, JDA/Blue Yonder).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level) and other MS Office applications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of S&OP processes and principles is highly desirable.
