Job Title - Dean of School of Computer Science/ Advanced Computing
Area - Academic & Administration
2. Job Purpose
- The Dean of a School at the University is a senior academic administrator responsible for overseeing the academic and administrative operations of the school. The Dean works closely with faculty, staff, and students to ensure program quality and success.
- The Dean has academic, programmatic, managerial, and fiscal responsibilities for the school.
3. Key Accountability
Strategic
- Build a vision of excellence and national leadership, monitor progress towards goals.
- Collaborate with the Vice Chancellor / EP to strategize and implement the school's strategic plan.
- Identify market uncertainties related to programs and recommend investment decisions.
- Map competition and define the value proposition for each program.
- Promote the vision and mission of the university to all stakeholders.
Academic & Operational
- Drive the growth and financial success of the school.
- Build and promote the school's reputation internally and externally.
- Address stakeholder needs, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
- Improve faculty and student satisfaction.
- Manage programs effectively, dedicating 60% of time to academic operations.
- Engage with external organizations, dedicating 40% of time to external engagement.
- Ensure compliance with national and international accreditations.
- Build networks with SMEs and social agencies.
- Lead knowledge creation and dissemination activities.
- Collaborate within the university ecosystem, including departments like placement, finance, HR, IR, and IQAC.
- Integrate advanced technology and automation in academic processes.
- Prepare the Annual Quality Assurance Report and conduct Board of Studies meetings.
- Ensure students receive proper information on admissions and policies.
- Formulate and manage the annual budget in line with university strategy.
- Build and nurture a cohesive team and a positive culture within the school.
4. Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
- Ph.D. from IITs, IIMs, ISB, top 50 NIRF ranked institutions, or high QS-ranked global universities.
- Professor cadre qualification with a minimum of 3 years of academic administrative experience.
- Proven leadership at reputed universities/institutes.
- Research excellence at a national/international level, including publications, patents, or innovations.
- Financial acumen and experience managing P&L.
