Job summary

ASSPL in Mumbai (Maharashtra) is hiring Mechanical Service Engineers to maintain critical data center infrastructure across AWS facilities in India. The role requires hands-on management of mechanical systems, preventive maintenance, and on-call support with rotating shifts.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safety, uptime, and cost efficiency. The position targets professionals with 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience and a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in

  • 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Knowledge of BMS/EPMS control systems and data collection/trending is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of data center changes/events/incidents from start to finish and overseeing post-mortems and root cause analysis.
  • Maintenance/repairs of site-critical facility infrastructure or a Data Center to protect business interests.
  • Asset and inventory management oversight and coordination with vendors.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, emergency response and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ensure standardization and best-in-class operating practices; communicate expectations to facilities teams.
  • Provide hands-on facility support as required; manage contractors and vendors on site.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns and operates global data center facilities that require skilled maintenance engineers to ensure continuous operations. We're expanding our team to include Mechanical Service Engineers who will be responsible for critical infrastructure maintenance and operations. This position will serve as the primary technical resource for mechanical and HVAC systems maintenance within AWS data centers in India. The role requires hands-on management of mechanical infrastructure, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response. The position will require 24x7 on-call support and rotational shifts (need basis general shift).


Key job responsibilities


Operations And Maintenance


  • Ownership of all Data Center changes/events/incidents/problems from beginning to end as well as overseeing the completion of post-mortems, root cause analysis and follow-up resolution actions.

  • Responsible for ensuring maintenance/ repairs of site-critical facility infrastructure or a Data Center are planned and executed to the best interest of the business.

  • Responsible for Asset and Inventory management.

  • Develop and maintain method statements, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and all technical documentation.

  • Ensure standardization and consistency with best-in-class operating practices. (Technical Writing Skills and Automation)

  • Communicate operating philosophies, technical information, objectives and expectations to Amazon personnel and to the vendor critical facilities management teams.

  • Providing hands on facility support where required


Incident And Emergency Response


  • Reviewing incident reports, documenting periodic trend summaries, and providing updates and recommended actions to management.

  • Managing information flow during incidents while providing regular updates to management.

  • Manage and coordinate with vendors to resolve any incidents during emergency situations. This may require to physically be dispatched on to site to investigate and resolve the issue.

  • Ensure 24*7 shift operations in safe, secure manner without availability impact.


A day in the life


  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).

  • Perform rack installs, rack decommissioning, and facility MEP management.

  • Provide operational readings and key performance indicators

  • Responsible for the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation.

  • Performance and oversight of maintenance and operations on all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.

  • Work schedule changes depending on specific site needs. Shifts can be up to 12-hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule.
