Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services is seeking an experienced Database Platform Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join a high-performing team responsible for designing, automating, and managing large-scale database platforms.

The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in database administration, platform engineering, automation, cloud technologies, and reliability engineering practices, with hands-on Linux, scripting, and IaC experience.

Qualifications

• Experience with managing large-scale database platforms and automation.
• Strong knowledge of databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Hands-on SRE/Platform Eng in production environments.
• Linux/Unix administration expertise.
• Proficient in Python, Shell, or PowerShell scripting.
• Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• IaC tools: Terraform, Ansible, or equivalents.
• Monitoring/Observability with Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, or ELK.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain highly available, scalable database platforms.
• Implement SRE best practices including monitoring, incident management, and reliability improvements.
• Automate provisioning, deployments, patching, backup, and recovery processes.
• Ensure performance, availability, security across environments.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform or similar tools.
• Collaborate with Development, Cloud, and Operations teams to optimize reliability.
• Conduct root cause analysis and drive permanent fixes for production issues.
• Implement observability dashboards and proactive monitoring strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure database platforms
• Implement SRE best practices including monitoring, alerting, incident management, and reliability improvements
• Automate database provisioning, deployments, patching, backup, and recovery processes
• Ensure database performance, availability, scalability, and security across environments
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform or similar tools
• Collaborate with Development, Cloud, and Operations teams to optimize platform reliability
• Conduct root cause analysis and drive permanent fixes for production issues
• Implement observability solutions, dashboards, and proactive monitoring strategies

Required Skills

• Strong experience in Database Administration (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, or MongoDB)
• Hands-on experience in SRE, Platform Engineering, or Production Support environments
• Expertise in Linux/Unix Administration
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Shell, or PowerShell

• Experience with Kubernetes and Container Platforms
• Knowledge of Database Security and Compliance Standards

• Banking, Financial Services, or Enterprise-scale production support experience
