Job summary

Virohan Pvt. Ltd. is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to design, implement, and maintain scalable database systems ensuring data integrity and high availability.

You will optimize queries, manage security and backups, and collaborate with DevOps and analytics teams to ensure reliable data services. The role requires 5+ years of DBA experience across relational and non-relational databases, with strong knowledge of AWS cloud databases, HA setups, data modeling, and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as DBA with relational and NoSQL experience.
• Strong security, monitoring, and backup/recovery skills.
• Experience with cloud databases, especially AWS.
• Knowledge of relational and dimensional data modeling.
• HA setups, clustering, and replication knowledge.
• DevOps, automation, CI/CD, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high-performance, scalable DB systems ensuring data integrity and availability.
• Monitor and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and configurations for efficient retrieval under high load.
• Perform updates, migrations, transformations with minimal downtime and data consistency.
• Analyze DB performance via load testing, identify bottlenecks and propose improvements.
• Manage data security, backups, and disaster recovery for continuity.
• Collaborate with DevOps, development, and analytics teams to troubleshoot issues.
• Develop and maintain DB architectures, schemas, and documentation.
• Monitor growth and plan scaling strategies and resource optimization.
• Contribute to data lakes and data warehouses for analytics needs.
• Leverage OpenSearch, Firebase, Firestore, and PostgreSQL in a diverse data env.
• Stay updated on new DB technologies and best practices.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and secure database systems ensuring data integrity and availability.
• Monitor and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and database configurations to support efficient data retrieval, especially under high load conditions.
• Perform regular database updates, migrations, transformations, and scripting tasks while minimizing downtime and ensuring data consistency.
• Analyze database performance through load testing, identify bottlenecks, and recommend actionable improvements to enhance stability and speed.
• Manage data security, encryption, backup policies, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure compliance and business continuity.
• Collaborate with DevOps, development, and analytics teams to troubleshoot performance, connectivity, and data inconsistency issues, and implement best practices.
• Develop and maintain effective database architectures, schemas, and documentation such as data dictionaries and architecture diagrams.
• Proactively monitor database growth and recommend appropriate scaling strategies and resource optimization.
• Contribute to the design, maintenance, and enhancement of data lakes and data warehouses to support analytics and reporting needs.
• Leverage multi-database experience, including technologies such as OpenSearch, Firebase, Firestore, and PostgreSQL, to manage a diverse and dynamic data environment.
• Stay updated on emerging database technologies, tools, and industry best practices to continuously improve system performance and reliability.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience); MCA or M.Tech is a plus.
• 5+ years of proven experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) working across both relational and non-relational database technologies.
• Strong command of database security, performance monitoring, and backup and recovery processes.
• Experience in database monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving performance and connectivity issues.
• Solid understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling.
• Hands-on experience with cloud databases, particularly AWS.
• Familiarity with clustering, replication, and high-availability (HA) database solutions.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified DBA, Microsoft SQL Server Certification) are an added advantage.
• Exposure to DevOps tools and practices, contributing to automation, CI/CD pipelines, and cross-functional collaboration.
