Job summary

Gryphon Hytech Services in Mumbai seeks a Database Administrator (DBA) for MySQL and MongoDB. The role focuses on InnoDB internals, query optimisation, automation, and handling large TB-scale data across 20–50 node clusters.

Required is experience with migrations, upgrades (8–8.4), troubleshooting, and translating business use cases into robust technical solutions. This is a full-time on-site position in Mumbai.

Qualifications

• Must have strong RDBMS experience with MySQL and NoSQL experience with MongoDB or Cassandra.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language.
• Automation mindset to reduce manual DBA tasks.
• Experience with migrations and upgrades (e.g., MySQL upgrades).
• Troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
• Experience with very large data sizes (TB range) and large clusters (20–50 nodes).
• Ability to translate business use cases into technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Optimize MySQL/MongoDB performance and InnoDB internals.
• Lead database migrations and upgrades with minimal downtime.
• Automate routine DBA tasks and monitoring.
• Design and maintain sharded, replicated, high-availability architectures.
• Collaborate with developers to convert business requirements into technical implementations.

Job Description

How will we evaluate you? ( not limited to )

1. Proven experience with InnoDB engine internals.
2. Proven experience with the MySQL query optimizer.
3. Automation mindset. This is not a a typical manual admin profile.
4. Proven database migration experience. If you focus on details, it will be good for us to understand you.
5. Proven experience with database upgrades. Say, 8-8.4
6. Proven troubleshooting experience.
7. Experience working with data sizes in the TB range and large clusters (e.g., 20-50 nodes per cluster) is beneficial.
8. Good if you are able to convert business use cases to technical.
9. Proven experience with the WiredTiger engine.
10. Good understanding of sharding, partitioning, sharded clusters, replication, HA, and DR.

We will evaluate based on these.

Preferred but not mandatory:

• 1. Good understanding of OLAP databases.
• 2. Ansible, Terraform, Docker, and containers.
• 3. Cloud SQL and RDS

What we don't need?

• 1. Just user, table, and database creation, installation, and uninstallation.
