Colan Infotech is seeking a skilled Database Administrator in Chennai with 5+ years of hands-on experience to support enterprise ERP applications. You will optimize SQL performance, migrate data, automate tasks, and ensure secure, scalable database environments across development, testing, and production.

The role emphasizes collaboration with developers, QA, and implementation teams, with on-site operations and a full-time schedule in general shift hours.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQL Server.
• Expertise in SQL query optimization and performance tuning.
• Experience in database design, indexing, stored procedures, and functions.
• Knowledge of backup, recovery, security, and admin best practices.
• Hands-on experience in Python or SQL scripting.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server databases across development, testing, and production environments.
• Design, review, and optimize database schemas, tables, views, procedures, and indexes.
• Analyze and improve SQL query performance and resolve bottlenecks.
• Support ERP modules like Sales, Procurement, Inventory, Production, HRMS, Finance, and Master Data.
• Plan and execute end-to-end data migration activities including extraction, transformation and validation.
• Develop automation scripts using Python or shell for DB administration tasks.
• Implement automated backup, recovery, monitoring, and reporting systems.
• Monitor DB health, performance, storage, security and availability.
• Prepare and maintain DB documentation, ER diagrams, migration plans, and change logs.
• Collaborate with dev, QA and implementation teams during ERP deployment.
• Explore AI-assisted SQL optimization and migration verification.

About the Role:

We are looking for a skilled Database Developer with 5+ years of experience to support the development, optimization, migration, automation, and maintenance of enterprise-scale ERP applications. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in database administration, SQL performance tuning, data migration, backup and recovery strategies, automation scripting, and database security.

This role requires close collaboration with developers, QA teams, business analysts, and implementation teams to ensure high-performing, secure, and reliable database environments across development, testing, and production systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server databases across development, testing, and production environments
• Design, review, and optimize database schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, indexes, and relationships
• Analyze and improve SQL query performance and resolve database bottlenecks
• Support ERP modules including Sales, Procurement, Inventory, Production, Maintenance, HRMS, Finance, and Master Data
• Plan and execute end-to-end data migration activities including extraction, cleansing, transformation, mapping, validation, and reconciliation
• Develop automation scripts using Python, SQL, Shell, or Batch scripting for database administration tasks
• Implement automated backup, recovery, monitoring, reporting, and database maintenance solutions
• Monitor database health, performance, storage utilization, security, and availability
• Prepare and maintain database documentation, ER diagrams, migration plans, backup strategies, and change logs
• Collaborate with development, QA, and implementation teams during ERP development and deployment
• Explore AI-assisted solutions for SQL optimization, database monitoring, data validation, and migration verification

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong experience in PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server
• Expertise in SQL query optimization and performance tuning
• Experience in database design, indexing, stored procedures, and functions
• Knowledge of backup, recovery, security, and database administration best practices
• Hands‑on experience in Python, SQL scripting, Shell scripting, or Batch scripting
• Experience with data migration, ETL processes, and data validation activities
• Familiarity with Git/GitLab and version control practices
• Experience in creating technical documentation and ER diagrams

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working on ERP, Manufacturing, Finance, Inventory, Procurement, or HRMS applications
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL with .NET / Dapper-based applications
• Exposure to AI tools for database automation, SQL assistance, script generation, or data validation
• Experience with ETL tools, cron jobs, workflow automation, or scheduled jobs
• Knowledge of cloud database services and DevOps practices
• Basic knowledge of Power BI or reporting database preparation
