Job summary

Deepspatial in Bengaluru, India is seeking a Database Administrator to own the operational health of our databases, primarily MongoDB and SQL Server. You will implement backups, monitor performance, tune queries, and ensure high availability in a cloud/onsite hybrid environment.

You will manage indexing, replication, sharding, security, and access control, while maintaining documentation and runbooks for operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience as a Database Administrator.
• Certifications in SQL Server, MongoDB, or Cloud preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Monitor database health, performance, and capacity utilization.
• Diagnose and resolve database issues, slow queries, connection problems, and performance bottlenecks.
• Perform regular health checks, maintenance of jobs, and system optimization.
• Ensure secure access, role management, and compliance with internal data policies.
• Maintain documentation on database standards, processes, and runbooks.

Job description

Must-Have Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB administration (mandatory).
• Installation, configuration, backups, monitoring, performance tuning, and scaling.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server database administration.
• Expertise in database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of indexing strategies, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Experience with replication, clustering, sharding, and horizontal scaling (MongoDB & SQL).
• Proficiency in backup & recovery, disaster recovery planning, and high-availability setups.
• Deep understanding of database security, access management, roles/permissions, and audit controls.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with MongoDB Atlas, AWS RDS, or Azure SQL services.
• Knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and database best practices.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (Shell, Python, PowerShell) for automation and monitoring.
• Experience integrating databases with web and cloud applications.
