Job summary

Clinisys is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to join our global team. You will manage end-to-end database lifecycles for client-based and cloud-hosted products, leveraging AI-assisted tools to accelerate diagnosis, tuning, and automation.

The role requires strong governance, security, and collaboration across product development and support teams. Please note that UK/US shift exposure may apply and familiarity with both on-premises and cloud environments is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS or related field.
  • 3–5 years of Oracle database administration experience.
  • Experience with on-premises and cloud-based deployments.
  • Familiarity with software development processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Oracle database lifecycle, including installations, patching, upgrades, backups, restores, and replication.
  • Perform AI-assisted patching, troubleshooting, and health checks to detect anomalies.
  • Ensure security patches and governance across client and cloud environments.
  • Configure DR and high-availability solutions; maintain documentation of activities.
  • Collaborate with product teams to optimize databases using AI-enabled techniques.
  • Maintain comprehensive DB documentation and follow change-management processes.
  • Provide on-call support as needed.

Purpose (of the role)

In this role you will get the opportunity to work with Clinisys which is a global leader in healthcare information technology. As a part of the Solution Adoption team, you will act as a liaison between the business and its customers and will be responsible for delivering impeccable service by providing high quality software solutions. As an Oracle DBA you will perform essential database functions from development through production including but not limited to database installations, upgrades, troubleshooting, and conversions for both client based and cloud hosted products. Additionally, in this role you will be accountable for documentation for all database functions.

Job Summary
Essential Functions/ Job Responsibilities
  • Manage Oracle database lifecycle activities including installations, patching, upgrades, backups, restores, and replication across production and development environments.
  • Execute database patching and troubleshooting using AI‑assisted tools to accelerate issue diagnosis and risk identification.
  • Perform proactive production health checks leveraging AI‑driven insights to detect anomalies and performance deviations early.
  • Identify and resolve database and application performance issues using a combination of traditional DBA practices and AI‑supported tuning recommendations.
  • Support client database environments, ensuring timely application of security patches and compliance with security standards.
  • Configure and manage replication and disaster recovery (DR) solutions to ensure high availability and resilience.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to design, optimise, and manage databases using AI‑assisted query generation and optimisation techniques.
  • Maintain structured documentation for database activities (installations, upgrades, replications, conversions) and build reusable knowledge assets.
  • Follow established governance processes including signoffs, escalations, and change management for database updates and version upgrades.
  • Drive continuous improvement by staying current with database technologies, adopting AI‑enabled automation, developing training materials, and generating reports, dashboards, and insights for stakeholders.
  • Execute DBA tasks assigned through structured intake systems (e.g. ServiceNow, Zoho), ensuring full adherence to the instructions, context, and acceptance criteria provided within each request.
  • Interpret and apply detailed work instructions, templates, and supporting documentation to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes across repeatable configuration activities.
  • Operate within a process‑driven delivery framework, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with defined service levels and quality benchmarks.
  • Follow established escalation pathways when task inputs, requirements, or instructions are unclear or incomplete, ensuring risks to quality or timelines are proactively managed.
  • Be available for on‑call support as needed.
Skills needed to be successful
  • Demonstrates deep expertise in Oracle databases, Oracle server tools, Oracle Data Guard, and database development.
  • Strong proficiency in OLTP and OLAP database design, administration, and overall system administration.
  • Proven ability to create, manage, and maintain Oracle database environments supporting development and enterprise operations.
  • Leverages AI tools (e.g., Copilot) for SQL/PLSQL development, query optimisation, automation, and script validation.
  • Drives automation of routine DBA activities (health checks, patching, monitoring) and builds reusable, standardised AI‑enabled repositories.
  • Ensures secure, compliant, and high-quality database operations through governance of AI usage, while demonstrating innovation, process improvement, and strong client communication skills.
Required Experience & Education
  • Bachelor's degree in business or computer science, or equivalent education and work experience combined.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of Oracle database administration and Oracle Data Guard experience.
  • Prior exposure to software development processes and/or methodologies.
  • Familiarity with on premises and cloud-based implementations.
Preferred Experience & Education
  • Database certification(s) preferred.
  • Prior experience with server class hardware, operating systems, and virtualization.

Shift Timings

This is a permanent role comprising a five-day week with shifts to cover our US and UK hours from Monday to Friday. For India these are UK shifts from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM IST.
