Job description

The project aims to develop a digital continuum of care platform for pregnancy, tracking women from conception through antenatal care, delivery, and postpartum period. The program will integrate data from multiple digital systems and facility records to create longitudinal pregnancy tracking, high‑risk pregnancy identification, service coverage monitoring, outcome tracking, and decision‑support dashboards.

In addition to this project, the Data Scientist will also support overall health data analytics, dashboard development, data systems strengthening, and advanced analytics across programs.

Objective of the Role

The Data Scientist will be responsible for:

  • Designing and managing health data systems
  • Integrating and analyzing program data
  • Developing dashboards and analytics frameworks
  • Supporting high‑risk pregnancy tracking and maternal health analytics
  • Developing predictive analytics models

The role combines data engineering, analytics, visualization, and data science functions.

Scope of Work

The Data Scientist will support broader data and analytics work across health programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Management and Systems
    • Design and manage databases and data structures
    • Develop data pipelines and integration systems
    • Create data dictionaries and data standards
    • Ensure data quality and validation frameworks
    • Support integration of multiple digital platforms
  • Data Analysis and Insights
    • Analyze program data to generate insights
    • Conduct trend analysis, cohort analysis, and outcome analysis
    • Support monitoring and evaluation frameworks
    • Conduct impact and contribution analysis
    • Generate periodic analytics reports
    • Design and develop dashboards for program monitoring
    • Build district, facility, and program dashboards
    • Develop visualization tools for decision‑making
    • Automate reporting systems
  • Advanced Analytics and Modelling
    • Develop predictive models and risk scoring tools
    • Conduct statistical analysis and modelling
    • Conduct geospatial and hotspot analysis
    • Develop machine learning models where relevant
  • Decision Support and Data Use
    • Support program teams in interpreting data
    • Support review meetings with data insights
    • Build capacity of teams on data use
  • Documentation and Knowledge Management
    • Document data architecture and analytics frameworks
    • Develop indicator definitions and metadata
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Public Health Informatics, Health Analytics, or Engineering or related field
Experience
  • 3–6 years experience in data science or data analytics; preference for candidates with experience in the health sector
  • Experience working with large datasets
  • Experience in statistical analysis and modelling
  • Experience in health or public health data preferred
  • Experience working with government data systems preferred
  • Experience in predictive modelling or machine learning preferred
Technical Skills

Reporting Structure

The Data Scientist will report to the Project Director or Technical Lead.

Will work closely with the Data team, Program teams, District teams, Government stakeholders, and External technical partners.

Duration

Initial contract: 12 months, extendable based on performance and project needs.

Location

Bangalore, Anantapur, or Vijayawada (based), with travel to districts.
