Job summary

BP plc is seeking a SAP MDG specialist to support data governance, master data processing, and CR workflows in a global energy company environment.

The role requires SAP MDG and ERP experience, cross-cultural collaboration, and a proactive, professional demeanor for external-facing work. Hybrid office/remote work and international coordination are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/Accounting.
• 1+ years of client-service experience in SAP MDG.
• Solid experience in SAP ERP and SAP MDG.
• Experience in cross-cultural/ international environments.
• SAP MDG Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day SAP MDG support including data creation, updates and governance workflows.
• Act as a single point of contact for MDG queries and issues.
• Guide CR creation, approvals and data governance processes.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Finance and Supplier Support to resolve issues.
• Analyze and resolve Change Requests including submission errors and workflow failures.
• Supervise and fix IDOC and integration issues impacting master data processing.
• Support UAT testing and ensure continuity of operations during absences.

Key Accountabilities and challenges

• Provide day-to-day support for SAP MDG processes, including data creation, updates, and governance workflows
• Act as a point of contact for business users regarding MDG-related queries and issues
• Provide guidance on CR creation, approvals, and data governance processes
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams such as Procurement, Finance, and Supplier Support to resolve business-critical issues
• Analyze and resolve issues related to Change Requests (CRs), including submission errors and workflow failures
• Supervise and fix IDOC failures and integration issues impacting master data processing
• Investigate and resolve data-related issues impacting business processes (e.g., payment issues, vendor changes, master data inconsistencies)
• Perform root cause analysis using system logs, CR logs, and transaction data
• Coordinate with technical teams for sophisticated defect resolution
• Support UAT testing
• Processes for which accountable: Individual will handle own workload responsibly, and work with the work allocator to ensure that there is continuity of operations in the event of planned and unplanned absence
• This role is external facing so individual needs to represent bp in a professional manner at all times

The role is part of the wider data team and will be included in wider data team activities.

Essential Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer Science, IT, Accounting.
• 1+ years of experience handling a client-service oriented function with experience in SAP MDG Functional area
• Sound experience in SAP ERP and SAP MDG.
• Experience of working cross culturally and in an international environment
• Ability to communicate and influence across different levels in the organisation
• Engaging and collaborative way of working
• Resilient and experienced in working in sophisticated environment
• SAP MDG Certification preferred.
