Job summary

Stealth AI Startup is seeking a seasoned Data Governance / Purview Solution Architect to lead design and implementation of an enterprise-wide governance platform. You will define architecture, standards, metadata frameworks, and end-to-end data lineage across Azure data services.

The role requires 8+ years in data governance with hands-on Purview experience, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance and robust data stewardship.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Governance / Microsoft Purview Solution Architect to lead the design and implementation of an enterprise-wide data governance platform for a leading Banking & Financial Services organization.

In this role, you will define the overall Microsoft Purview architecture, establish governance standards, design metadata and classification frameworks, implement end-to-end data lineage, and integrate Microsoft Purview with Databricks Unity Catalog and Azure data platforms. You will provide technical leadership to engineering teams while ensuring governance best practices and regulatory compliance across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise-wide Data Governance architecture using Microsoft Purview.
• Define the Microsoft Purview collection hierarchy, domains, Data Map, business glossary, taxonomy, and governance framework.
• Design metadata management, data cataloging, and enterprise data classification strategies for structured and unstructured data.
• Develop classification and sensitivity labeling frameworks for banking data, including PII, PAN, KYC, financial, and customer data.
• Define and implement enterprise data lineage strategy across Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks Unity Catalog, SQL databases, Data Lake, and Power BI.
• Architect Microsoft Purview integration with Databricks Unity Catalog, including connector design, metadata synchronization, and governance standards.
• Define governance standards for metadata, business glossary, lineage, and data stewardship across business domains.
• Design secure access governance using Azure RBAC, Microsoft Entra ID, Managed Identities, Service Principals, and Private Endpoints.
• Review solution architecture, establish technical governance standards, and provide design approvals.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Architects, Security teams, and Business Stakeholders to implement enterprise governance solutions.
• Mentor Technical Leads and Engineers on Microsoft Purview, Unity Catalog, and Azure Data Governance best practices.
• Ensure governance solutions comply with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Management, or Data Governance.
• Minimum 2+ years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing Microsoft Purview solutions.
• Strong experience designing enterprise‑scale Data Governance and Metadata Management frameworks.
• Hands‑on experience integrating Microsoft Purview with Databricks Unity Catalog.
• Strong understanding of metadata management, business glossary, data catalog, data lineage, and data classification concepts.
• Experience implementing governance solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Strong understanding of Databricks Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, catalog hierarchy, schemas, access control, and lineage.
• Experience working with Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure SQL, Azure Key Vault, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure RBAC, and Azure Networking.
• Experience working with REST APIs, Service Principals, Managed Identities, OAuth, and Azure Private Endpoints.
• Knowledge of enterprise data governance frameworks and data stewardship practices.
• Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Healthcare, Telecom, or other highly regulated industries.
• Exposure to enterprise data catalog platforms such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Informatica EDC, or Alation is preferred.
• Experience with regulatory and compliance frameworks such as BCBS 239, GDPR, RBI Guidelines, PCI DSS, or similar data privacy regulations is preferred.
• Microsoft Azure certifications (Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Data Engineer Associate) and Databricks certifications are highly desirable.
