Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a Data Engineer in Bengaluru to own and evolve our data pipelines powering analytics across teams. You will collaborate with senior engineers and data partners to transform and model data, optimize pipelines, and ensure data quality while leveraging AWS and modern orchestration tools.

You will contribute to AI-assisted workflows to boost productivity and insights. The role emphasizes data warehousing, SQL mastery, and building scalable analytics platforms with SparkSQL,

Qualifications

• 3+ years in data warehousing and analytics.
• Experience with Spark, Hive, or Iceberg for analytics.
• Proficient in SQL and optimizing analytical queries.
• Knowledge of Python, Java, or Scala for data processing.
• Experience building data pipelines with SparkSQL and Airflow.
• Exposure to Snowflake or Redshift for data warehousing.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud platforms and data integration from multiple sources.

Salesforce’s Data Engineering team sits alongside our centralized Analytics team, working together closely to ensure we are a data-driven company. Data Engineering is responsible for building and maintaining an infrastructure that powers: Product, Analytics, Marketing, Sales and Operations functions. Data Engineering is a foundational pillar for all of Salesforce and one of the most highly leveraged teams.

As a Data Engineer at Salesforce, you’ll be a critical part of the development and enhancement of an innovative data environment by leveraging industry best practices and cutting edge approaches. You’ll collaborate with engineering to nail-down the data infrastructure, and with our business partners across all major functions at the organization to anticipate data needs, and proactively develop data solutions to address the toughest business problems. Role Overview

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of automated data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and delivering analytics datasets.
• Work with senior engineers to implement data transformations and models that support reporting and analysis.
• Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and product teams to understand data requirements and support data flow across systems.
• Assist in data modeling and schema implementation to ensure analytics-friendly data structures.
• Support data quality checks, validation, and monitoring, helping identify inconsistencies and resolve issues.
• Participate in supporting ad-hoc data analysis and queries to help answer business questions.
• Learn and adopt best practices in data engineering, including version control, testing, and CI/CD workflows.
• Contribute to improving data reliability and documentation under guidance from senior team members.
• Leverage AI-assisted tooling and explore building lightweight AI agents or LLM-powered workflows to automate data tasks, accelerate analysis, and improve team productivity.

Desired Skills

• 3+ years of experience building, implementing, and maintaining data warehousing and analytics solutions.
• Hands-on experience with distributed data processing frameworks such as Spark, Hive, or Iceberg, with a focus on analytics use cases.
• Proficiency in SQL, including writing complex queries and supporting performance optimization for analytical workloads.
• Working knowledge of Python, Java, or Scala for data transformation and pipeline development.
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines using Spark (SparkSQL) and orchestration tools such as Airflow or equivalent.
• Exposure to MPP analytical databases (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift) and understanding of query performance considerations.
• Exposure to building or extending AI agents and LLM-powered applications. e.g., tool-use/function calling, MCP, or agentic workflows over data along with solid software engineering fundamentals (APIs, services, testing) is a plus.
• Understanding of data modeling concepts and analytics-friendly schema design.
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, including schema design, partitioning, and data lifecycle.
• Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Experience integrating data from multiple sources, including databases and third-party systems, using APIs or standard ingestion mechanisms.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code etc) to improve developer productivity is a plus.
• Good communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and eagerness to learn and grow as a data engineer.
