Overview

We are seeking a passionate and talented Data Engineer II to join our growing data team. The ideal candidate is a data evangelist with a strong interest in turning data into actionable insights and driving organizational change through innovative data engineering solutions. This role will involve engineering multiple data systems, implementing monitoring and optimizations for system performance, and working closely with cross-functional teams to design secure, scalable, and efficient data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Administer and manage SQL Server databases on public Azure, ensuring high availability, resilience, and security.
• Configure, maintain, and monitor databases and related processes.
• Design and model data for performance and scalability while ensuring security compliance.
• Manage and execute data backup and recovery processes.
• Collaborate with developers to optimize queries, refine data structures, and implement best practices.
• Provide escalation support for critical production systems as required.
• Design, develop, and implement SQL Server DBOs (Stored Procedures, Views, Functions, Triggers, Indexes).
• Develop and implement data services including Azure Logic Apps, pipelines, and API gateways.
• Assist with data profiling, data quality checks, and system monitoring automation.
• Support data analytics initiatives by enabling access to data and assisting in building data visualizations.
• Mentor a small team of software and data engineers and guide data power users on innovation strategies and best practices.

Experience

Years Of Experience: 5–8 years of professional experience in data engineering, database administration, and development.

Education & Certifications (Optional)

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
• Certifications in Azure Data Engineering, SQL Server, or Power BI preferred.

Must Have Skill Set

• Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server administration and development.
• Expertise in database modeling, performance tuning, sharding, replication, indexing, and query optimization.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Managed SQL Instances and data pipelines.
• Experience with data backup and recovery processes and high-availability solutions.
• Proficiency in developing database objects (Stored Procedures, Views, Functions, Triggers).
• Familiarity with data security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical skills with a passion for data-driven decision-making.

Nice To Have

• Working knowledge of Power BI or similar visualization tools.
• Familiarity with API gateways and data services for integrations.
• Experience mentoring teams and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
