Job summary

Allianz Group in Pune is seeking a senior data engineer to lead cloud data modernization across enterprise environments. You will design scalable data pipelines, mentor engineers, and collaborate with stakeholders to unlock insights from large datasets.

You will work with Databricks, Azure Synapse, PySpark, SQL and Python, implementing data governance and cost optimization while ensuring secure, compliant data solutions that scale with business needs.

Job description

Experience.

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow) and Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Proven experience in building and scaling data teams and mentoring junior engineers.
• Solid understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and cloud-native data solutions.
• Hands-on experience in Azure Synapse to Databricks migration projects, including workload assessment, ETL migration, and performance optimization.
• Strong expertise in PySpark, Spark SQL, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks Workflows, and Databricks Asset Bundles.
• Experience with Databricks cluster management, performance tuning, cost optimization, and monitoring.
• Familiarity with data governance, lineage, and security implementation using Unity Catalog and Azure security services.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale cloud data modernization and migration programs in enterprise environments.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Spark.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (e.g., Git), and DevOps practices in a data environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• It’s a huge plus if you have a relevant Microsoft or Databricks certification.
• AI Exposure is an add on advantage.
