Job summary

Allianz Technology in Pune, India seeks a Senior Data Engineer to lead data engineering initiatives, build scalable data platforms on Databricks and Azure Synapse, and mentor junior engineers. You will shape data architecture, ensure governance, and drive modernization programs across enterprise environments.

Must have 6+ years in data analytics/engineering, strong SQL, Python, Spark, and experience with CI/CD. Certifications such as Microsoft or Databricks are a plus; AI exposure is beneficial.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics roles.
• Hands-on with Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow) and Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Experience building and mentoring data teams.
• Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and cloud-native data solutions.
• Azure Synapse to Databricks migrations, ETL migration and performance optimization.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python and Spark.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps in a data environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science / IT or related field.
• Microsoft or Databricks certifications a plus.
• AI exposure is an add-on advantage.

Experience.

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow) and Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Proven experience in building and scaling data teams and mentoring junior engineers.
• Solid understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and cloud-native data solutions.
• Hands-on experience in Azure Synapse to Databricks migration projects, including workload assessment, ETL migration, and performance optimization.
• Strong expertise in PySpark, Spark SQL, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks Workflows, and Databricks Asset Bundles.
• Experience with Databricks cluster management, performance tuning, cost optimization, and monitoring.
• Familiarity with data governance, lineage, and security implementation using Unity Catalog and Azure security services.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale cloud data modernization and migration programs in enterprise environments.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Spark.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (e.g., Git), and DevOps practices in a data environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• It’s a huge plus if you have a relevant Microsoft or Databricks certification.
