Job summary

Certara is seeking a experienced Data Engineer to join our IT organization. You will design and maintain a cloud-hosted data warehouse and enable BI across the business using Power BI and data pipelines.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor juniors, ensure data integrity, and implement governance. The role requires strong SQL, data modelling, cloud platforms (Snowflake, Azure) and ETL tooling expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems.
• Proficiency in SQL for data querying, manipulation and optimization.
• Proficiency in Data Modelling and Architecture.
• 5–8 years hands-on experience in end-to-end Data Engineering.
• 5+ years with cloud technologies (Snowflake, Microsoft Azure).
• 5+ years with ETL and orchestration Tools (Workato, Azure Data Factory, Talend).
• 5+ years with BI Tools (Power BI, Tableau).
• Experience with Git, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with large datasets (TB+) and data reliability.

About the Role

As a Data Engineer, you are part of a global, fast‑paced IT organization with the primary mission to provide capable & resilient world‑class services to professional services, software, and corporate business units ensuring our team members have access and ability to perform at the highest level in service of our customers.

The Information Technology function relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals through implementation of industry best practice methodologies, governance, and tooling. The Data Engineer role is responsible for the development and design plus subsequent management and efficient operations of a cloud hosted data warehouse. The role will also establish data analysis capabilities via PowerBI and implement an integration platform strategy to govern the necessary data extractions.

The role requires a rich understanding of data warehouse design principles as applied to empower organization‑wide business intelligence efforts.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Develop and maintain data engineering solutions to support Certara’s data analysis needs.

• Collaborate with other teams to integrate data from various sources.
• Participate in project planning and provide technical expertise for data‑related projects.
• Stay compliant with data governance policies and regulations.
• Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and vendors.
• Act as a subject matter expert and provide guidance on best practices for data engineering.

Qualifications

Who you are -

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems.
• Proficiency in SQL for data querying, manipulation and optimization.
• Proficiency in Data Modelling and Architecture.
• At least 5‑8 years hands‑on experience in end‑to‑end Data Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience with cloud technologies (Snowflake, Microsoft Azure).
• At least 5 years of experience with ETL and orchestration Tools (Workato, Azure Data Factory, Talend).
• At least 5 years of experience with BI Tools (Power BI, Tableau).
• Experience with Git, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with large data sets (terabytes and larger) in a data ecosystem with emphasis on data reliability and availability.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with stakeholders, facilitating discussions, and conveying complex technical concepts. Ability to educate and guide stakeholders while maintaining data quality standards and delivering a high‑quality data product is necessary.

• Flexibility – able to meet changing requirements and priorities.
