Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Data Engineer to design secure data architectures and optimize data pipelines for both structured and unstructured data. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement scalable data solutions and contribute to data quality initiatives.

The role requires strong programming, testing, and documentation skills, with exposure to AI/GenAI initiatives, and experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.

Qualifications

• Four-year or graduate degree in CS/IT/Software Eng or related discipline or commensurate experience.
• Typically 4–7 years of work experience in data analytics/engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and build secure, performant data architectures for data pipelines, repositories or models.
• Analyze and implement coding, programming and integration activities within the data system.
• Write and execute testing plans and documentation; debug and fix data-related issues.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop reliable, cost-effective data solutions.
• Improve data quality by identifying inaccuracies and developing automated improvements.
• Interrogate datasets to identify trends and patterns for reporting deliverables.
• Work cross-functionally to define and develop data reports and dashboards.

Data Engineer Description - Key Roles Designs and establishes secure and performant data architectures, enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of data pipelines, repositories or models for structured/unstructured data. Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on general objectives and knowledge of overall architecture of product or solution. Writes and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of data system or component; identifies and debugs, and creates solutions for issues with code and integration into data system architecture. Collaborates within a project team of other data engineers to develop reliable, cost effective and high-quality solutions for assigned data system, model, or component. Analyzes data inaccuracies, identifies opportunities and supports the development of automated solutions to enhance overall quality of the enterprise data. Identifies problematic areas and conducts research to determine the best course of action to correct the data; identifies, analyzes and interprets trends and patterns in complex datasets. Works cross-functionally with different departments to assess, define, and develop report deliverables. Represents the software data engineering team for all phases of larger and more-complex development projects. Provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members.

Education & Experience Recommended Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Statistics/ Mathematics, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence. Typically has 4-7 years of work experience, preferably in data analytics, data engineering, data modeling, or a related field or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience. Proven Out of the box thinking abilities. Collaborative spirit with a growth & innovative mindset. Strong communication, presentation & interpersonal skills. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Experience using data visualization tools such as Minitab, excel, Python and Microsoft Power BI.

AI & Digital: Hands-on experience in developing AI / GenAI solutions (e.g. Copilot, chatbots, prompt engineering) and automation use cases Automation & Tools: Power Automate, Python, advanced Excel, Power BI, or other Microsoft ecosystem tools Data & Analytics: Data extraction, transformation, validation, and reporting
