Persistent Systems is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join the Data Engineering team in Hyderabad. You will drive scalable data solutions, leveraging Oracle, SQL, Python, PySpark, and Apache Spark, with emphasis on data integration, modernization, and analytics.

The role requires 5–8 years of hands-on experience, a strong pipeline mindset, and collaboration with solution architects to deliver enterprise-grade data platforms and governance in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of Data Engineering, Big Data experience.
• Strong Oracle DB and Spark experience.

About Position

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team and drive the development of scalable, high-performance data solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Oracle, SQL, Python, PySpark, and Apache Spark, along with extensive experience in enterprise data platforms, data integration, and modernization initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing data pipelines, enabling large-scale data processing, and supporting business-critical analytics and reporting solutions.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, PySpark, and Apache Spark.
• Build high-performance data ingestion, transformation, and processing frameworks for enterprise data platforms.
• Optimize Oracle databases, SQL queries, Spark jobs, and large-scale data processing workloads.
• Develop and support real-time and batch data integration solutions using Oracle GoldenGate, CDC, Kafka, and related technologies.
• Implement data migration and modernization strategies across legacy and cloud-based platforms.
• Design and maintain robust data models, data warehouses, and analytical datasets.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune data pipelines to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Implement automation, monitoring, and operational best practices for data platforms.
• Collaborate with business analysts, solution architects, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure data quality, governance, security, and compliance across enterprise data environments.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
• Support cloud-based data engineering initiatives and enterprise modernization programs.

Expertise You'll Bring

• 5-8 years of experience in Data Engineering, Big Data, and Data Platform development.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Oracle databases and Apache Spark ecosystems.
• Advanced programming skills in Python, PySpark, and/or Scala.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, query optimization, and database performance tuning.
• Experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines for enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling techniques, and dimensional modeling.
• Experience working with large-scale distributed data processing platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle GoldenGate, Change Data Capture (CDC), Kafka, and enterprise integration technologies.
• Experience with data migration, platform modernization, and performance optimization initiatives.
• Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and operational best practices.
• Experience working in Agile development and delivery environments.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Ability to mentor and guide engineering teams on best practices and solution design.
