Job summary

Makro Group in Hyderabad seeks an experienced Database Administrator to manage Oracle databases across development, testing and production. You will install, configure, and upgrade systems, monitor performance and ensure 100% uptime while protecting data security.

The role requires strong SQL/PLSQL skills, experience with MySQL and MongoDB, and solid data modelling, backup/recovery planning, and collaboration with development teams.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of DBA experience with Oracle and knowledge of other databases
  • Strong SQL/PLSQL proficiency
  • Experience with MySQL and MongoDB

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure and upgrade Oracle databases
  • Create and maintain databases for development, testing and production
  • Tune database instances for performance
  • Implement and maintain database security (users/roles/privileges)
  • Plan and implement backup and recovery of Oracle databases
  • Control migrations through the development lifecycle
  • Enforce security for all databases
  • Perform re-organisations to improve performance and uptime
  • Establish standards for integrity, security and performance; review designs/code
  • Evaluate Oracle releases and third‑party tools for suitability
  • Provide technical support to application development teams
  • Enforce and maintain database constraints for integrity
  • Administer all database objects (tables, indexes, views, sequences, packages, procedures)
  • Assist with impact analysis of changes
  • Troubleshoot database, applications and development tools
  • Create new database users per security policies
  • Generate ER diagrams and scripts
  • Manage tablespaces

Database Administrator
Qualifications
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in DBA role with Oracle database administration and knowledge of other databases
  • Strong SQL/PLSQL knowledge
  • Good knowledge of managing other databases such as MySQL and Mongo
  • Very good knowledge of database performance optimization and tuning
  • Very good knowledge of data modelling and database design
  • Good team management skills
  • Good interpersonal, communication, planning, critical thinking and decision‑making skills
  • Self‑directed with time and workload management; able to perform duties without direct supervision
  • Innovative and keen on learning and implementing new practices
Responsibilities
  • Installation, configuration and upgrading of Oracle databases
  • Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing and production usage
  • Performs ongoing tuning of the database instances
  • Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges)
  • Plan and implement backup and recovery of the Oracle database
  • Control migrations of programs, database changes and reference data changes through the development life cycle
  • Implement and enforce security for all databases
  • Perform database re‑organisations as required to assist performance and ensure 100% uptime of the database
  • Establish standards to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security and performance; review designs and code frequently to ensure compliance
  • Evaluate releases of Oracle and its tools, and third‑party products to ensure all systems run the most appropriate products
  • Provide technical support to application development teams
  • Enforce and maintain database constraints to ensure database integrity
  • Administer all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures
  • Assist with impact analysis of any changes made to database objects
  • Troubleshoot problems regarding databases, applications and development tools
  • Create new database users as required, adhering to security policies
  • Generate ER diagrams and scripts
  • Manage tablespaces
