Job summary

Accordion Partners in Hyderabad, India, seeks an Associate for Operational and Technical Accounting to tackle complex accounting and operational challenges across PE portfolio companies. You will own workstreams, apply technical accounting knowledge, and drive improvements in controllership and financial reporting.

The role requires 2+ years in public accounting or PE-backed settings, strong Excel/ERP/PowerBI skills, and the ability to implement scalable accounting solutions across month-end

Qualifications

  • Background in accounting, controllership, technical accounting, or audit; CA is preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related fields from reputable institutions
  • 2+ years of experience in public accounting, PE-backed companies, or transaction-heavy environments is highly valued
  • Ability to interpret and apply U.S. GAAP, IFRS and other accounting standards
  • Strong understanding of operational finance and accounting processes (close, reporting, reconciliations, controls, audit)
  • Hands-on, execution-focused mindset—comfortable solving real operational problems
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with cross-functional and CFO interactions

Responsibilities

  • Analyse financial data, processes, and accounting workflows to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
  • Work hands-on with Excel, ERP systems and PowerBI to reconcile data, create process maps, and accounting documentation
  • Anticipate potential roadblocks and collaborate with the global team to resolve them efficiently
  • Support development of technical memos, policies, and process improvements, translating issues into actionable recommendations
  • Frame finance problems with a structured approach to drive operational insights
  • Help diagnose issues across month-end close, reconciliations, reporting, and financial onboarding

Operational & Technical Accounting (O&T)

Accordion's global Operational and Technical Accounting practice delivers hands-on, execution-focused solutions that strengthen finance operations, enhance technical accounting accuracy, and support value creation across the private equity lifecycle. O&T team members work supporting management teams to streamline core finance processes, upgrade controllership functions, accelerate close and financial reporting, support audit readiness, implement technical accounting policies, and stabilize the finance function during periods of transition or rapid growth.

Role overview:

As a Business Associate in Accordion's Operational & Technical Accounting (O&T) practice, you will work on complex accounting and operational challenges across private equity portfolio companies. As the primary owner of assigned workstreams, you will apply technical accounting knowledge, operational thinking, and problem‑solving frameworks to drive meaningful improvements in controllership, financial reporting, and finance operations.

You will be responsible for supporting technical accounting analyses, preparing policy documentation, assessing process gaps, and helping implement scalable operational solutions across key finance and accounting workflows such as month‑end close, audit readiness and financial reporting. You will collaborate closely with team members to ensure accuracy, compliance, and practical execution.

Additionally, you will support Business Managers and Directors by delivering clear insights, well‑structured recommendations, and hands‑on support that helps clients strengthen their finance and accounting function, enhance performance, and accelerate value creation.

What will you do:

  • Analyse financial data, processes, and accounting workflows to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Work hands‑on with tools such as Excel, ERP systems and PowerBI to reconcile data, create process maps, and accounting documentation to support technical accounting conclusions, strengthen controllership, and enhance operational execution.
  • Anticipate potential operational or technical accounting roadblocks and collaborate with the global team to resolve them efficiently.
  • Support the development of technical memos, policies, and process improvements, and synthesize complex accounting following US-GAAP and IFRS and process issues into clear, actionable recommendations for client leadership.
  • Frame finance and accounting problems using a structured, execution‑focused approach to drive actionable operational insights.
  • Help diagnose issues across month‑end close, reconciliations, reporting, and financial onboarding, ensuring alignment with accounting and stakeholder's standards and expectations.
